A former magazine editor and university lecturer, James is now an author dividing his time between Northumberland in England and Liguria in Italy. It was his discovery of the ancient Italian village of Seborga, its historical connection to the Knights Templar, its unique culture and the traditional cuisine that was the inspiration for his first book, Cooking up a Country. In 2020 a follow-up, Unlikely Pairings, was published in what has become, The Seborga Series. The third book, Recipe For A Nation, was published in 2021.
His interest in artisan food and wine, as well as environmental issues, are reflected in James writing.
