brett “Fish” anderson is passionately in love with God, with his wife tbV [the beautiful Val] and owns the world’s most famous stuffed dolphin called No_bob [who he was going to call ‘Bob’ but he doesn’t bob!] He sees a huge part of his calling in life to be used to mobilise the church to live out what we say we believe to the extreme, in all areas of our lives, seven days a week.

And raiSINs are evil.

Occasionally there is a moment or a day when i can't think of something to write and then i would say walk away, give yourself space, do something else, go read someone else... and then come back to it later and typically something has been sparked. But i have not faced writer's block for any lengthy periods of time yet. (less)

Writing is a skill and so the more you do it, hopefully the better you become [unless you're writing bad stuff and just continue writing a lot of bad stuff] - but typically the more you write [and invite feedback from safe people to start with and the general public when you are feeling a bit more confident] the better you will become.

Also Read! Find some blogs you like and some authors you respect and read their stuff on a regular basis and try and figure out what you like about it. You never want to try and write like someone else because you need to find your own voice, but you can hone things in your skill by adding little things you like in others.

If you don't have a blog, that's a great way to begin because you can write on whatever topic you want and invite people to read it and comment and help you get better. (less)

Irresistibly Fish has moved…

All good things come to an end. Well, that’s not really true, but some of them sometimes have to change their address [like me and tbV for example- anyone know of a two to three bedroom place to rent in Cape Town in a somewhat diverse neighbourhood for not bank-killing amounts?] But something i have […] Read more of this blog post »
