The quote above, comes from Hager's book, about the discovery of sulfa drugs. I found it a great read, primarily because the sulfa drug saved my life. When I was 2 1/2 ears old, I scratched my ankle on a rusty screen door. The scratch became infected and I contracted a streptococcus infection, pneumonia, and septicemia (blood infection). I am so very grateful to know the history of the drug that saved my life!!

As a woman coming of age in the 70’s, I… I chose the road less traveled by. I bucked up against societal norms, and at age 33 left my husband of fourteen years and my three young children. And, that has made all the difference. Some would say I had a choice. Did I?
