Maricel Jiménez was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She began writing at a very early age (to be precise, she wrote before she could write, basically scribbling gibberish on notebooks) and showed an inclination towards poetry and fantasy from the very beginning. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2000 with a degree in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez where she participated in several literature and creative writing courses and workshops. In 1998, she obtained 3rd place in an English short fiction creative writing competition at the University with her short story “The Plebiscite”. In 2010, she was a finalist at the En Rojo Micro Story competition with “Preludio”.

However, after a while, you have to force yourself back to work. "It's time to get back to the book, Maricel" - of course I talk to myself! At that point regardless of whether inspiration has struck or not, it's time to find the story again.

The break, however, can sometimes be a change of setting. One of the reasons why I like to write my first draft by hand. I can go to the beach and write! (without worrying about sand in my computer, or the glare of the sun, or running out of battery...) ;)(less)

“Y los padres… ¿dónde están?” Analizando la campaña más pendeja que ha sacado Jugando Pelota Dura

Sí, sé que usé una “mala palabra” en el título, pero así es que hago que lean, so… vamos al mambo. Ese titular “…Y los padres, ¿dónde están?”, originalmente escrito sin acento en dónde 👇, es la nueva campaña de valores que se supone de alguna forma mejore nuestra sociedad. I love to travel back in time with this series. The romance bits aren’t my favorite, but it builds the characters and the story is about human connection and communication so it carries the story along. The details of human life back then are pricele ...more
