Preparing for Harvest

The new moon today is leading us into perhaps my favorite full moon of the year—the Harvest Moon. Now is not the time to sit back and wait for things to grow. It’s time for careful pruning, nourishing, and supporting the things we wish to bloom in our lives.

Things are busy around here, with schools starting up, summer winding down, and preparation for my favorite season of all, Autumn. I was able to get the yard mowed today (it was very overdo), and I trimmed back some lilacs that also really needed it. The result was a clearer canvas so that I could visualize what I want for my outdoor environment for myself, my family, and my neighborhood community. A lot of really cool ideas popped into my head once I had that clarity of the tall grass and dangling branches out of the way!

The same holds true for other aspects of my life. I have a lot of pruning to do with my writing. There are so many activities I’m giving my time to that aren’t really nourishing me as a person or supporting me in being who I want to be. It’s time to trim those activities as well and free up the space in my day to devote to things that will bring me the harvest I’m looking for.

But for now, the best thing I can do is rest after all that outdoor work! I hope you’re taking care of yourself and giving thought to the harvest you wish to bring into your life as well.

The Corn Moon 2025

It’s the full Corn Moon tonight and I am so pleased with the “crop” that is growing in my life right now. I’m focusing on what is growing corn for me and my family, and can already see the growth and change in my life.

Our home is becoming clearer in terms of what we want our environment to be like. Our meals are more focused on healthy habits, foods, and connections (we’re finally following through on the “no electronic devices at the table,” for instance). And I’m making good progress on the next book.

In order to move forward with the two series where I’ve made the most progress, I had to see what I was working with. I made what I’m calling, “The Homeworld Wall,” with a sticky note that has a picture glued to it that I can use as a reference for each individual character, both main and secondary. There are a lot of them!

I’ll be working on clarity in this universe as well, focusing on one couple at a time, with only a few other characters to round out their story. It was daunting when I had all these characters floating around in my head without a clear sense of who was there and where they were.

Now that I can just see them and move them around to where they need to be, the multiple character and series arcs that are going on are making so much more sense. I’m excited to get back to the keyboard and start writing fresh words and growing new stories to share with you!

I’m going to use the waning Corn Moon energy to further refine what I want, to release what isn’t serving me, and to continue to clarify the life I want for myself, my family, and my characters!

Growing Corn

I’m a day late for posting about the new moon that happened yesterday, but there’s still plenty of forward-moving energy to harness. We’re heading into the Corn Moon, which will be the full moon of August. This is one of the most important times of the year for me.

There’s a Native American saying that tells us to let go of things that don’t grow corn for us. When the Corn Moon is upon us, I use that energy to look at what is helping me in my life and what I need to let go of. This year, it’s especially important, as I’m letting go of a lot of things and moving into new eras in many aspects of my life.

I just celebrated my 10th anniversary of when I was published, and now I’m looking forward to determine what I want the next decade of writing to be like.

My role as a mother is changing as my offspring grows older.

I’m finally giving time and energy to clearing our home environment and making it healthier.

This last piece is key to the Corn Moon energy I want to manifest. Instead of looking around my house and thinking, “What can I get rid of?” I sat down and thought about what is really serving me and my family. Keeping this in mind, I’m mindfully going through each space in our home and letting that thought of “what is growing corn for us?” guide my choices. It’s so much easier to let go of things when I have a strong hold on that which is truly serving us.

As we head into the full moon of August, I’m going to continue to keep this in mind in all that I do, clarifying the things that serve my life’s purpose, and letting go of the distractions that have been clouding it.

Counting Blessings

It’s time to bring back a fan-favorite… my lunar posts! What better day to restart it than the full moon of July—the Blessing Moon. Today, I’m using the full moon as a mental focus to bring my attention to my blessings.

Counting my blessings is all about keeping the good things in my life at the front of my mind. If I fill my mind with thoughts of the goodness surrounding me, not only will that make me happier, it will make me healthier and stronger as well.

Later today, I’ll sit for a while with a blank page and free-write everything, big or little, that is making me happy and feel blessed. It can be as small as a new video game obsession that’s helping me take more breaks (Coral Island!), or as big as publishing a book I’ve been working on for seven years! (Perihelion on my shelf is definitely toward the top of my blessings list right now!)

I just celebrated my 10-year Writerversary. 10 years ago on July 7, my first book was published. Since then, my thoughts have turned toward all the amazing things that have happened in the last decade, both about and because of my writing. I hit the USA Today bestseller list, had my books next to big-name authors in the top 100 list for Folklore on Amazon, wrote and published nearly every book I originally planned for (and a BUNCH of other ones), and have made new lifelong friends in this writer’s journey. Literally thousands of readers have signed up for my newsletter. It’s amazing. I’m still celebrating this huge milestone. Now, I get to look forward at the next ten years and ask myself what I want to accomplish next.

Looking at the future with a sense of adventure and optimism isn’t always easy, but it’s worth the work. If we don’t infuse our lives with hope, we don’t work to create the lifestyle, the love, and even the world that we want to live in. This full Blessing moon, I invite you to shift your focus with me and think of all the things, no matter how small, that bring you happiness.

The Blades are Back!

Greetings, reader! It’s been a while, but I have news I had to share. I’ve just released second editions of The Blades of Janus! I was able to fix some things that had been bothering me and needed to make a huge change to a major character in order for some upcoming storylines to make sense (my muse warned me, but I stubbornly didn’t listen). Anyway, be sure to check out Pack and Progenitor, now available on most major distributors!

Read more: The Blades are Back!

The greatest danger lurks beneath their skin.

Tessa Rhodes has been as good as dead for seven years—ever since the dweller that killed her family decided to turn her into one of its kind. She’s kept the infection at bay while taking out as many dwellers as possible, but knows her time is almost up. Going out fighting was always her plan, until she meets a man with golden eyes and a touch that makes her want to change her destiny.

Marcus Lowell has dedicated his life to the Blades of Janus, hoping to build peace between humans and dwellers and find a place for himself in the process. He’s used the strength, speed, and heightened senses of his own dweller nature with that single-minded focus—but when Tessa Rhodes storms into his life, all he can think about is her.

Tessa’s arrival upsets the balance among all the Blades in Providence, awakening urges Marcus has fought since he was infected. If he can convince her to let him fight at her side, they stand a chance against the dweller pursuing her—and maybe a chance at something more. Will she trust him, or will the dweller tracking her be the death of them both?

Death can’t stop him. Loving her might.

Living on the streets and struggling to survive, Meg jumped at the chance to join a pack of werewolves as a child. But her new family was decimated before she could bond with them—slaughtered by the Blades of Janus.

Now, she has a chance to avenge her fallen packmates and rescue the lost and misguided survivors taken by the Blades. The only way to do that is to find the man who founded the Blades and end him once and for all. Who better to get close to him than a harmless omega?

But the closer she gets to their leader, the more she realizes she doesn’t actually know who—or what—she’s facing. Will the dark secrets he carries be the key to her salvation or the end of everything she’s known?

Rom’s Release Day!

Wow, it’s been a minute since I posted here. I’ve been keeping busy with tons of writing and releasing… I’m honestly not sure how many books I’ve released since the last time I posted LOL But today, I’m finally back at the blog to let you know that the seventh Cygnian 7 book, Rom: A Scifi Alien Warriors Romance is out in the world!

Why is this such a big deal that I’m blogging about it? Well, it was supposed to be the final Cygnian 7 book. My readers had other plans, though! After an incredible influx of email about the series, I have decided that the stories will continue after Rom’s book! I’m so excited to bring those adventures to you. But right now, let’s focus on Rom!

I love how his cover turned out! Be sure to read the blurb and check out the buy links at the bottom!

A galaxy of enemies can’t keep them apart.

Desperation drove Rom to jump through a transit portal, not knowing where the teleportation device would send him or even if he would survive the journey. The other Cygnian warriors in his prism have already bonded with their soulmates. Though they all assured him he would find his soulmate soon, it seemed obvious to Rom that he should be the one to take the risk. He knew something they didn’t. Through all the months that the others had sensed their mates, Rom hadn’t felt the slightest glimmer of her existence. Until now…

Hayley Addison has no idea how long she’s been imprisoned in space. Her days are a drudgery of blank metal walls and horrible experiments performed on her by an evil Tau Ceti scientist named Norem. As much as she longs to escape, she won’t chance it unless she can find a way to take along the two extraordinary friends she has made, fellow victims of Norem’s experiments. When a giant blue alien appears out of thin air in Hayley’s cell, she doesn’t know whether to be terrified or hopeful. All she knows is that she’s drawn to him in a way she’s never experienced before. He doesn’t even know his own name, but holds a key to her past that makes her want to trust him.

Can Rom and Hayley find their way to love and escape from the treacherous clutches of the Tau Ceti? And if they do, will they fall into the hands of an even greater threat?

Happy October!

Welcome to October, my favorite month of the year! We have a few more too-warm-for-me-days to get through in my part of the world before the temperatures reach a more Autumnal level. I’ve already had one day where I could wear my Stilinski hoodie from the TV show Teen Wolf (not at all like the movie), which is one of my all-time favorites (both the hoodie and the show). I will definitely be rewatching some of it this month!

This time of year, I have to recommend my Summer Park Psychics series. The second and third books in particular have a ghostly vibe while the first has an edge of mystery.

The fictional town of Summer Park, Florida, holds many secrets. The Summer Park Psychics follows a group of friends discovering more about each other and themselves as they deal with a threat unlike any they’ve ever faced. To overcome the danger, they’ll need to rely on the extraordinary powers of the psychics in their midst and on the strong bonds of friendship and love between them all.

Explosive Action

Lingering Touch is definitely the most action-packed book in The Summer Park Psychics trilogy. Read on for one of the most intense scenes!

LINGERING TOUCH

The Summer Park Psychics, book three

Heat hit her back as the room exploded into fire behind her. Jazz heard the window shatter. The next thing she knew, Finn had pulled her against his chest and was rolling them across the bed to the floor.

“What the hell?” she yelled.

“Molotov cocktail. We need to go out the back.”

The curtains were on fire, flames dropping onto the carpet. Some smoldered out. Others caught.

“Shouldn’t we try to stop it?”

As she said the words, another projectile flew into the room, landing on the bed. The sheets caught instantly as the accelerant poured over the mattress.

“Shit!”

Finn leapt forward, blocking her body with his, pushing her toward the bathroom.

“Wait.”

Jazz ducked under his arm so she could grab her wallet, phone, and keys from the nightstand. He took her hand and pulled her toward the bathroom, both crouching low to stay beneath the smoke. Finn slammed the door shut as soon as they were in the smaller room, then rolled up a towel and tucked it along the crack at the floor.

There was a small window above the sink. She could fit through easily. She wasn’t sure about him.

“Finn…”

“It’ll be fine.”

He jumped up onto the sink, then opened the window and punched out the screen. He scanned the area outside. “I don’t think they’re back here. They might have taken off to avoid the cops, but we can’t assume anything.”

“Is it those guys from the bar?”

“Probably,” Finn said. “Come on.” He helped her up onto the counter. “Be sure to check the SUV before you get into it.”

As if he wouldn’t be with her.

“You go first,” she said.

“Jazz—”

“I will balk. I swear to f#$%ing God, I will kick and scream and fight you on this. I’m not going through that window until I’m sure you can fit through it. You go first.”

He stared at her for a moment.

“We’re wasting time,” she said.

Unfamiliar Voices

Exploring how Finn’s powers are malfunctioning in Lingering Touch was really creepy.

image

It was hard enough to write what it was like for him to have another consciousness pushing into his mind. I hate to think about what it would be like in reality.

LINGERING TOUCH

The Summer Park Psychics, book three

They passed the last building, the scenery reverting to thick foliage crowding between palm trees and pines. Damn, Clearview was tiny. Most of the buildings had busted-out windows and peeling paint.

“That was one shitty town,” Jazz said.

He couldn’t disagree. People were struggling here. He could feel it.

“I saw a bar that wasn’t boarded up,” he said. “That’s our best bet.”

“Let’s hope Michael’s cousin is a drinker then.”

From what Finn had seen, he wouldn’t doubt it. Not much of an eater, though. That nickname Michael kept using was just cruel. Finn almost felt sorry for the guy.

Almost.

She turned the SUV around using a side street, then headed back the way they had come. The parking lot for the bar had tons of potholes filled with sand and gravel. The SUV bounced as if they were driving off-road.

“Pull around so you’re facing the street.” He scanned the area, looking for the best place to park. “There. Park there. If we need to, we’ll be able to get out fast and it’d take several trucks to block us in.”

She raised her eyebrows and glanced at him, but did as he said. “You get to think about fun stuff in your line of work.”

He shrugged. “Things happen. I don’t like repeating mistakes.”

Like being with you.

What the f#&^. He was seriously about to reach into his head and punch his brain. The lack of sleep must be getting to him more than he thought. Or the nightmares.

The most recent one… It was different. He suppressed a shudder.

Dreaming from his sister’s perspective made a lot of sense now that he knew their relationship. He’d researched psychic powers enough to know about the twin bond. Even non-psychic twins had heightened connections.

Experiencing what happened to her was horrible, but he understood it. What he didn’t understand was the dream on the way to Clearview—the nightmare from Michael’s point of view.
