Last year I got it in my head that hey, maybe I’d like to try writing a mystery. Something fun, something quirky, something with magic (of course!) But who should be my detective(s) and where should all the murdering happen?

The where was easy—I know this cozy little beach town of Ordinary, Oregon where gods vacation and plenty of supernaturals run amok. It would be the perfect place for a bit of criming.

The who, though, that was harder. Who should unravel clues and unmask criminals?

2025 has been an interesting year for me writing-wise. I’ve written two books in a new series, neither of which are released yet. One of those books just needs a final pass and is ready to go, the other needs a heavy revision, copy edits, and final pass.

My neighbor across the street wants flowers blooming in her front yard from spring until the end of summer. To do so, she’s planted dozens of tulips, daffodil, California poppies, wildflowers, and other random bloomers.

What a beautiful start to fall! I ran outside barefoot to catch this photo this morning and didn’t feel chilled. (We have cooled from our summer temperatures, but September has been mild and on the warm side.)
