You hit the nail on the head when you suggested it is too hard to choose.

I probably would consider myself more of a mystery writer, since I've been reading and wanting to write mysteries as long as I can remember. I particularly enjoy English mystery writers, and my current favorite is Elizabeth George, who writes English mysteries despite being an American.

My fascination for history is both more recent and more limited, as it is history about the Midwest United States that is most interesting to me. I'm currently researching the time period between the War of 1812 and Illinois statehood, the Illinois frontier, which is very fascinating. That is when my next mystery book will take place.(less)

When I was going over ideas to jumpstart a story, I asked myself, "What if there was a real presence behind these incidents, not just something that happened by chance?" I live in an area with an abundance of forests, old cemeteries, cliffs and tunnels, great ghostly settings. I put the two ideas together, along with a quirky town history and sorrow for my mother who had recently died, and the result is The Mystery at Sag Bridge.(less)

Smokey Row #4 – Smokey Row Today

Most Smokey Row businesses had rented property in the downtown area of Lemont that was owned by early pioneer settlers. Many of these people were churchgoers, important and well respected in the community. Unhappy due to pressures put on them after the strip was raided in 1895, more and more owners refused to renew the rentals, and the demise of Smokey Row establishments followed. Within six m

“We can give you medication to help with the nausea, but the trial we’ve recommended doesn’t include Cisplatin. You’ll be getting a drug called Cetuximab. It’s not actually a chemotherapy agent, but a monoclonal antibody that’s effective for your particular cancer. Cetuximab has its own side effects, but less than you would have with Cisplatin. Some people don’t have nausea at all.” Dolly said, “Cetuximab is a good choice, Pat. It’ll be much easier on you than Cisplatin, and it’s very effective.” I wasn’t convinced. I wanted the best treatment, not the easiest. I wanted this cancer gone! “But you said Cisplatin is the usual drug. Is it more effective than Cetuximab? Is Cetuximab experimental?” Dr. Fidler shook her head. “No to both questions. The FDA approved”
