Becoming an indie author

Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog post. It's funny, a year ago I was trying to finish my degree and was doing battle with SQL Databases and AI concepts. All I needed was a few more credits and I was done. This was probably not the best time to discover that, although I found it interesting, I didn't have a passion for computer programming or database management. I'm sure it'll be useful someday, but I knew I was putting burying my creativity in order to get a "standard" job.

So I decided to take a break and focus on some other projects, one of which was writing. A year later I'm up one novel, and a whole bunch of short stories that I'm in the process of weaving through.

Is it any good? I think so. Family members who've read it thought so too, but writing the novel was half the battle. Now I find myself working at marketing, promoting, emailing people to try and get some sales going. I feel sometimes like I'm in PR more than writing. But I couldn't be happier. At the moment, I'm doing something I LOVE! I'm creating stories, characters, and worlds that allow me to express ideas and concepts that I hope will intrigue people... when the sales finall start coming in. Being a writer is great, but if you're new and don't have a name the most important thing to remember is not to give up. Sales may be slow, sales may be nonexistant for a while, but keep working and keep pushing! With lots of hard work and a little luck, success will follow I'm sure. Feel free to check out my book, it's on Amazon right now and will be available in other places once I've sorted out a few things.

Thanks for your time.
