DJ Edmonston was born in Boston Massachusetts. Having a love of architecture he attended Blue Hills Technical Institute (later becoming a division of Massasoit Community College) for architectural design. He soon changed programs and pursued his other gifting and passion, art and illustration. In 1991, he relocated to Orlando, Florida where he merged and pursued a three-fold passion for art, architectural design, and illustration. The result was a successful freelance business as an architectural illustrator, providing conceptual artwork to market development projects throughout the southern U.S. and the Caribbean. In March of 1991, DJ had a spiritual encounter with Jesus Christ that would change his life forever. In 1996 and 1997 he felt t ...more

I tend to be a "little wordy" at times, so i never really seem to stuggle with what I want to "say or write." Where I do struggle some times is putting it all together. I am always full of creative thoughts or ideas that I put down in my smart phone or computer. Even if they don't completely fit into place with what I am working on. I can then go back and fit them together. The best way I can explain it is if you have ever watched a documentary on Pixar and their amazing storytelling capabilities. They come up with ideas and put them on cards and post them on a board. The group of writers then look and discuss each card (pitch) as the writer of that pitch describes and acts out the scenes. I tend to use the same process at least in my head. I try and revise the different thoughts and ideas and their order in my head over and over, then write them in cleaned up "polished form" on the computer. I try not to initially concentrate or be pressured on anything but the concept and emotional content of what I am trying to get forth. I come from an illustration/ concept art background, so when I write I merely try and put forth in words what my imagination see's. I said in the beginning I was "wordy." LOL.(less)

It is awesome to me to be able to share through characters and stories truths and beliefs in a creative way without the listener or readers eyes glazing over and picking up their smart phone or other distractions and zoning out on you. That's what Jesus did, and to me he was the best communicator the world has ever known. We are all so overly connected now days with a gizzillion things to do that if someone picks up a book its a good thing, and hopefully they wont start to get glazy eyed as they read my writing. Hahhha. Well, at least I hope not.(less)

My first try at Poetry

Her
"She enters my sight with her breathtaking beauty,
her eyes glinting playfully in the dim light...

I behold her lean and tender frame,
her slight form made perfect by God's creation.

My heart leaps in my chest, my breathing becoming labored
as my emotions silently scream in elation.

Her beauty momentarily stuns me,
cloaking my adoration and love into a quiet submission.

Should I tell her? can I tell h Read more of this blog post »

Cornelia Funke
“Which of us has not felt that the character we are reading in the printed page is more real than the person standing beside us?”
Cornelia Funke

C.S. Lewis
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
