Support Libraries!

[image error]Most of you probably know that I strongly believe in supporting our local libraries.

What you may not know is that Macmillan Publishing has decided to enact a policy which limits libraries to only one eBook copy of new releases.

I think this sets a bad precedent and is indicative of a trend that will be harmful to the overall health of our libraries.

Luckily, I’m not alone. The American Library Association is currently collecting signatures to petition Macmillan to reverse this detrimental decision and they are asking YOU to weigh in.

Please join me in signing the petition. It only takes a few seconds, but could have long-lasting effects to our society.

And support your libraries!

Blurb:

Tom wants to move their relationship to the next level, but will Jackie’s past get in the way of their future?

Jackie Davis is no stranger to hardship. After a strict upbringing, her parents abandoned her when she got pregnant out of wedlock. Years later, she’s the co-owner of a successful café, mother to a beautiful six-year-old daughter named Abby, and dating a man who makes her heart race. For the first time in a while, she’s actually excited for the holidays.

When Tom Molsem applied as a cook at the local café, he wasn’t looking for a relationship. Haunted by demons from his military service, he was just happy to have a job he could handle. Now he’s the co-owner of that same restaurant and dating a woman who helped lay those ghosts to rest. With the past buried, he wants to build a future with his newfound family.

Tom and Jackie are eager to celebrate Christmas, but when Abby goes missing, the two must band together and discover the true gifts of the season: love, forgiveness, and new beginnings.

Continuing Education

After my mad sprint to complete Secret Gifts, you may have noticed that I haven’t been posting very much about my writing.

That’s because I’ve decided I need to go back to basics and strengthen my plotting skills.

NaNoWriMo was such a good reminder that I can write quickly when I don’t resent the characters and the story.

Secret Dream was such a struggle throughout 2018… It constantly felt like I was trying to shoehorn a square peg into a round hole. I need to take a step back and rethink the story.

In fact, I’ve pretty much decided to scrap the 40,000+ words that I’ve already written and start completely fresh. (Which is painful to think about, but necessary at this point.)

However, I’d rather not make the same mistake twice. My good friend, Lynne, has been recommending The Story Grid for ages now and I’ve decided to take her advice and work through the textbook.

My plan is to sit down March 1st with a plot in hand and tackle Secret Dream with a better idea of where I’m going.

Secret Gifts (A Holiday Novella)

Hey all! I’ve dropped a few hints on social media that I was working on a holiday novella for NaNoWriMo which is set within the Harper Sisters universe.

Secret Gifts follows Jackie and Tom, who are two side characters you may remember from the first book. This picks up a little over one year after they got together in Secret Hunger. Tom wants to take their relationship to the next level, but will Jackie’s past keep them from having a future?

I will be sending out a roughly edited version of Secret Gifts to my newsletter subscribers on Monday. Fair warning, I literally wrote this less than a month ago. (A little over 14,000 words of it was written on the last day in November.) This will not be the fully polished edition that I’ll publish in 2019, which means it is subject to change.

However, I wanted to give my readers a little gift for the holiday. This is the only chance you have to read it for free before it’s official. If you’d like a first-peek at it, then be sure you click on the link and sign up!

**Special thanks to Lynne Favreau and Chris and Holly Hammond for making this possible. Also, isn’t this cover GORGEOUS?!**
