Are You Ready to Vote?
I’m not talking about state and local elections yet. I’m talking about the 2024 Scrivenings Press Book Awards. Forever Free is eligible in two categories!
2024 Book of the Year—here
Contemporary Novel—here
The awards will be announced in November at the Scrivenings Press Writing Conference (ScrivCon) in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I’m planning to attend, and of course, I’d love to hear Forever Free mentioned in the winner’s column.
Voting closes October 20th, so you have plenty of time to vote for ...

Surprise!
I love a surprise from God! Here’s one of His latest for me.
Look! There’s the cover of Forever Free as a finalist for the Faith, Hope, & Love Reader’s Choice Award for Sweet Romance!
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! To God be the glory!
Talk about surprise. I attended Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference this past week, and a friend from Scrivenings Press said, “Congratulations!” I was dumbfounded. The only thing I could think of that she could be referring to was my help ...

I Love Libraries…Do You?
A library is a happy place for me. I love libraries! My daughters know this fact about me and planned a visit to a really special one when we spent a weekend in Newport, Rhode Island, recently.
The Redwood Library and Athenaeum is the oldest, continuously lending library on its original site in the United States. This library has been making people happy with books since 1747. How cool is that?
Anna and Hattie enjoyed our time there.
So did I!
We visited this library on a Saturday morning, a...

Easter Joys!
Thank you for reading this post. I pray you and your family will have a blessed Easter season. I pray you will draw more closely to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and will experience all the blessings He has for you.
Here’s a throwback picture to a long-ago Easter at our Pennsylvania house. Notice the Easter bonnets, the dresses and corsages, the suits and boutonnieres.
These peeps won’t be able to come home for an Easter basket this year, but all our memories are sweet as chocolate bunnies!

Church and LibraryThe church was finalizing an almost year-long new lead pastor search after our former pastor of nearly twenty years retired. The library board was going head-to-head with the town board in building a new, shared (using this term ...

Happy New Year!
Here’s a beautiful new beginning to a New Year.
I hope your New Year has begun in a positive way. I had to begin with the lucky foods, of course.
From the top right: barbequed boneless pork chop, black-eyed peas (not ever my favorite, but I want to earn some money this year), and then steamed mustard greens and kale (not the normal greens here in North Carolina, but I had these greens in our freezer.)
We’ve already had a snow event in the beginning of January. Really, it was more of an ice eve...
