Editorial Reviews!

"Sloane's subtle build of tension keeps me on the edge of my seat. The characters and prose set a mood that is on par with Stephen King's classics." -- Logan Keys, author of Gods of Anthem
-
"Kudos to Sloane Kady for her excellent work. Her years of work and dedication to the finer details of writing the great American novel are evident." -- Grant Handgis of Brother Coyote Publications

One Hell of a Review!

Blown away! This is what it's all about. One of the most rewarding reviews I've received. I'm humbled by the comparison and grateful for the astute understanding and assessment of the book. And yes, dear readers, I will begin writing the follow-up to Irreparable Deeds in a few weeks, once my kiddos are back in school.

"AMAZON
5.0 out of 5 stars Cannot wait for her next novel. Dark and visceral and brilliant. Hard to put down. August 1, 2015
By Jonathan Anderson
Format:Paperback
Before I even finished the book, I felt compelled to inform this talented author that there are not many books in my collection that feature characters which spring into my mind at random moments throughout the day, such as when working at my hectic day job, but even from the onset these characters and their situations had a way of doing that. They are so vivid, grounded in reality and relatable through their flaws and imperfections. They are each carrying their own demons, against which their personal battles have raged on for some time. Some of these demons perhaps are more apt to be full blown devils which conversely carry the characters, and as the plot thickens they seize full control.

I also informed the author that I have a tendency to highlight many of my books, marking parts and passages that I think are especially interesting or well-written. Concepts that I feel I can learn from in my own writing. Although I definitely learned from this novel, I had to restrain myself from highlighting, as most of it would have ended up being an extended, continuous highlight. I stand by these statements, and now having completed the novel, I mean them more than I did when I initially wrote them. Some of the more intense scenes were so vivid and visceral that they reminded me of some of Jack Ketchum's better work, but I had never cared about his characters as much as I did the ones to be found here. An exceptional balance of well crafted dialogue and narration carries the story, and expertly handled twists and turns abound. The great pacing and parallel action work well to build a nail-biting level of suspense that culminates in a climax that sears itself into your mind's eye in its clarity and depth. I know it did for me. I also know that I will be waiting (impatiently) for the sequel!

I am a lover of all things horror, and have been from a very young age when my older brother and I used to watch horror films that we were probably both too young for. After starting with films, the passion grew out to include novels and art as well, but this novel stands out in my collection, really filling a niche all its own. With Irreparable Deeds, Sloane Kady has shown that the monsters that fill our nightmares need not have fangs and claws and glowing red eyes. They need not lurk under our beds. Nightmares are made flesh every day, and the monster could be your neighbor, your boss, a fellow church-goer, your friend or family. Sometimes they are right before you just waiting on the light to show them for what they really are.
