Book Recommendation/Review
Recently, I finished reading two books by a close author friend of mine, and I just had to stop and write a post about them. That’s how good they were. Both books are packed with suspense, so if you’re a lover of thrillers, then you’re in luck.
VRIN: Ten Mortal Gods
I enjoyed this book, and the story was as intricate as a spider’s web! The thought and creativity put into it is quite amazing. This is the type of book you must pay attention to, however, because of how detailed it gets.
VRIN...

The Final, Final Pass – How to Make Your Book Readable
Below is a guest post by a writer friend of mine, Robert Boze. Here he talks about going over your story that one last time to check if it needs changes. The final, final pass. Let’s give it up for Robert!
Let me begin with a thank you to Hailey for inviting me to do a guest post on her website.
Or, should I have said, “Hailey, thanks for letting me blog on your website”?
Oops! The second one does not express what I wanted to say. Nor does it convey the image I’d like my character (me) to be...

Finding Time to Write When You Have None
Well! As you all may have noticed, it’s been way over a month since I’ve last posted. I suppose I have a bit of explaining to do.
About seven weeks ago, (wow, has it been that long?!?) I was put into public school after being homeschooled my whole life. Yes, I am still a young person, and I have school. Since that time, I’ve had less and less time to write for myself, what with homework and being gone all day. So my books have been put on a slight hold, and unfortunately these blog posts have...

Tears of Gold : Chapter Excerpt
This is a story I’m writing over on my deviantart account about my character, Ember (see below) as a fun fiction read. It’s about the elements, and their differences. This portion is actually pretty short, but that’s okay.
Enjoy!
~Tears of Gold–Prologue~
~They say that the element of fire is wild–untamable. Dangerous. That fire, in its truest form, is somethings to be feared. That fire resembles fury, stress, and feral passion.
The other elements feared fire…each of them stayed far away in...

Last Breath
This shortstory was prompted by this photo, and is about a time far in the future where the world is lacking plant life.
Source of photo: Here
As always, this might be a story I expand upon in the future, but the probability is pretty small as I have many other story ideas I’d like to get to. I also know that this story isn’t at all realistic, but it was fun to write! Enjoy!
Last Breath
Do I pick it? Dare I pull the last breath of plant life on this earth out from the soil?
I cringe at the t...

Faces in the Crowd: Writing Believable Characters
(Just a quick note: I apologize for not posting this sooner. I had planned to have a new post out every Wednesday, but that isn’t going to work anymore. I will now post every Saturday, because I just started going to a public high school when I’ve been homeschooled my whole life. I am going to be more consistent from now on…but it’s going to be a bit hard to work on my book, get a post written, and worry about homework—so I’ll try my best! Anyway, back to the original post.)
Characters are wh...

NaNoWriMo: The Month of the Crazy Writers (And I’m One of Them)
So, as many of you writers know, November is National Novel Writing Month. I wonder who came up with that idea. Did someone just wake up one day and say: “I should write a novel in a month—and declare that month sacred for writing!”? Or did a community of writers race each other to write a finished novel in the month of November?
Hmm, I really should look into that, maybe have a history lesson put together for you guys later this month….
Either way, NaNoWriMo is something extraordinary. I mea...

10 Things I’ve Learned Through Self-Publishing (Part 2)
So if you didn’t see Part 1 of this post, make sure you check it out here.
Last week, I told you five of the things I’ve learned through self-publishing, and today I will discuss the rest. Let’s dive right in, shall we?
6.Marketing is pretty hard to figure outI’ve learned a lot about marketing, but one of the biggest things I’ve learned about it is just how dang hard it is. What works for one person may not work for the next. Many of the marketing strategies that I’ve heard people use jus...
