My Favorite Weapon-Wielding Hero
You know you have one, and so have I.
For now, he's Jon Snow (Kit Harington) of HBO's Game of Thrones., who inspired the hero of my romantic suspense, The Bastard's Blade. Before that, and for a couple of decades, he was Jamie Fraser of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, until I created my own new favorite hero.
What is it that fascinates us about the days before gunpowder? Why are men with swords so compelling to us in the early 21st century?
There's something stirring about a fit masculine form manipulating a piece of long, deadly steel with the skill and grace of a dancer -- a dancer who can hypnotize you with his moves and suddenly pierce your heart or take your head. Well, not yours, but that of your enemy. Because your enemy will certainly be his as well, if he's a lover worth his salt.
Name your hero and his weapon, and tell me why yours has the biggest, baddest, or most intriguing. Any references to this being an extension of his maleness, or phallic symbol, are perfectly acceptable.
