The Struggle is real

To be honest, when I first got the book published I was very excited and loved seeing those closest to me having purchased the book. A few weeks later after the initial excitement and hoopla my confidence has weakened. It is a strange thing. You think that your book is awesome and that everyone will love it just as much as you do but then reality sinks in and its one of many many options of books out there. Each store you talk to has so many steps to take to get it even to be considered to be in their stores. Thankfully, after a day of escaping all the work I have put into selling my book and completing other books I'm writing I have again regained my confidence and will do all that I can to promote this great and wonderful children's book. So that in the future I can have more wonderful books written. Casey Browning

Ol' Halloween Night

Ol' Halloween Night is my first published book. I have a good amount more I am working to get published. I wanted to start this blog to get some experience because I am not quite sure what I need to blog about. For this first blog, I wanted to explain a little how this book came to be.
I first started writing this book with the title of The Great Pumpking. The first four stanzas of the book were part of this book. However, when I shared it with my wife she noted that the first part and the second part seemed like two different books. So, following her advice, I decided to make them two books. I will eventually work on The Great Pumpking, but for now, I decided to focus on Ol' Halloween Night.
The main help on this book came from my wife, Kimberlee. She has a lot of influence on the wording of the book and a few of the rhymes. More importantly, she illustrated the book. She was a great help to get this book to fruition.
I then turned my book into Page Publishing to be considered for publishing. A week and a half later they called me to let me know that they accepted my book for publishing. I thought this is so easy I am going to submit all of my books for consideration to other companies. A few negatives later, I realize it takes more than my first experience to get more books published. I'm hoping to get this book out and build my platform in order to have more publishing companies/literary agents be open to publishing my other books.
I am now working on meeting with local bookstores and setting up book signings and readings.
