Why I'm Taking a Timeout From Writing
This week our family received the heartbreaking news that my baby sister has a rare type of liver cancer. I'm supposedly good with words but, as many of you know, there are none for when what was meant to be a routine doctor's visit turns into tests, scans, procedures, and finally a devastating diagnosis.
It has become apparent over the last few days that as we navigate this season none of us ever wanted or expected that I cannot be the wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, granddaughter, employee, and friend I need to be and also write. I love my imaginary people but they are just that, imaginary. And my real people need all of my love, time, and energy for the foreseeable future.
So this post is just to let you know that while my five existing books will continue to be available (and I appreciate all the support they receive as we face many unanticipated expenses) all future books are on pause indefinitely. Being an author has been an incredible privilege and seeing my books in readers' hands will forever be a dream come true. Writing has brought me so many friends, experiences, and opportunities that I will carry with me and be grateful for for the rest of my life, even if I never publish another book. Thank you for whatever role, however small, you have played in that.
We do not know where this road is going to take us but we know that our God goes before us. And we know that He is good and He loves my sister, her husband, and her kids even more than we do. So if you are the praying kind we would sure appreciate any prayers that you have to spare for Melly and her family.

Happy Release Day to All Made Up!! :)
When Katriona McLeod first appeared in the pages of Close To You I never intended to write a book about her. As far as I was concerned she was perfectly happy in her fictional relationship. But she had other plans and she kept coming back in more books... and then readers started emailing asking when she was going to have her own story.
So I am so thrilled that her story is now finally in readers' hands. It's close to my heart for many reasons. Getting to return to Australia and catch up with some characters from other books, finally getting to put all my hours watching The Bachelor to good use, and exploring an issue that has affected some of my closest friends.
I hope that you enjoy Caleb and Kat's story. If you're new to my books don't worry it is written to stand alone, if you're not I hope you enjoy the return of some familiar faces! All Made Up

All Made Up - Coming September 28
I'm so thrilled to finally be able to share with you my next release All Made Up coming your way in September!
Kat McLeod is the secondary character I've gotten by far and away the most reader emails asking when she was going to get her own story. After her appearances in the last three books (some big and some small) it has been so much fun to write her story over the last year. Hopefully you all love it just as much as I do!
Here's a little bit about what comes next...
Everyone thinks Katriona McLeod is living the dream. Her professional career as a make up artist sees her traveling the world working with the stars and she's got no shortage of men wanting her affection. Only problem is she's never gotten over Caleb Murphy, the one guy she's ever loved. When she accepts a job on the latest looking-for-love reality TV show, Falling for the Farmer, she discovers to her horror that Caleb is the leading man and she's cast as one of his harem. But she hides a secret that means that even if she wanted a second chance with the guy who broke her heart she could never have it.
Caleb Murphy couldn't care less about C-Class celebrity fame or reality TV and he certainly doesn't believe it could lead him to love. The one thing he does care about is fulfilling his mother's last wish. Kat's presence on the show seems to offer up a solution that will make both the network and his mother happy. It might have been ten years since they split but he knows he can trust her with his plan. Just as long as he doesn't fall in love all over again with the woman who will never stay.
All Made Up in eBook format is available for pre-order from Amazon at a special pre-release price of $3.99 (USD).

Cover Reveal of Then There Was You!
I'm so thrilled to finally be able to share with you the cover of my next book, Then There Was You
which releases June 22 (click on the cover to be taken to the GoodReads page).
Josh and Paige's story starts in Chicago, then travels to Sydney, Australia and onto New Zealand.
This was the first romantic comedy I ever attempted to write! I started writing it in early 2008 and am so excited that eight years (and many rewrites!) later it's time has finally come :)
Here's a little about their story...
Paige McAllister needs to do something drastic. Her boyfriend can’t even commit to living in the same country, her promised promotion is dead on arrival and the simultaneous loss of her brother and her dream of being a concert violinist has kept her playing life safe and predictable for six years. Things need to change. A moment of temporary insanity finds her leaving her life in Chicago to move to Sydney, Australia. There she finds herself, against many of her convictions, as a logistics planner for one of Australia’s biggest churches, and on a collision course with her boss’s son.
Josh Tyler fronts a top-selling worship band and is in demand all over the world. But, in the past, his failed romantic relationships almost destroyed both his reputation and his family. He's determined to never risk it happening again. The last thing he needs is some American girl tipping his ordered life upside down. Especially one who despises everything he’s ever worked for and manages to push every button he has.
When Josh and Paige are thrown together to organize his band’s next tour, the sparks fly. But can they find a way to bridge the differences that pull them apart? Or will they choose the safety and security of what they know over taking a chance on something that will require them to risk everything?
The Kindle eBook is available for a special preorder price of $3.99 (USD) http://amzn.to/2ry9R32

Books & A Baby, Oh My!
Happy 2017, everyone! I know we're now well into the year but we had a new little guy joined our family in December so the last couple of months have been a bit of a sleep deprived new baby blur for me :)
Some exciting things have also been happening on the book front. Close To You and Can't Help Falling both made the longlists for the Inspy Awards in the Debut and Contemporary Romance categories. I love these awards because they are nominated by readers so I have my fingers and toes crossed that one of them will progress through the shortlisting progress.
Also my next book, Then There Was You, releases in June! I've just finished up the latest round of edits to send to my editor and will hopefully have a cover and preorder information to share with you in the near future!
This story is set in Sydney, Australia, and here's a little teaser of what it's about...
Would you give up everything for a life you hate with the person you love?
Paige McAllister has met her match, but he comes with a life she doesn’t want. Josh Tyler would give up anything for the girl of his dreams – except the one thing he can’t. Who he is.
Stay tuned for more details coming soon :)

Pre-Order Can't Help Falling and Be In To Win!
I
t was pointed out to me recently that it's that time in the author cycle when I need to get asking/pleading/charming people into pre-order Can't Help Falling. Which, honestly, makes me feel like that uninvited visitor on your doorstep trying to get you to change electricity suppliers right when the baby just puked all over your front and the toddler is flailing on the floor screaming like a banshee because you wouldn't let her play with the carving knife.
But alas, this whole published author thing really only works if your books actually sell, which brings me to... PRIZES! Every week for the next three weeks I'm going to be giving away a prize pack to someone who has pre-ordered Can't Help Falling. I don't care whether it's paperback or e-book or who you order it from. All you need to do is send proof of pre-order to kara (at) karaisaac.com during the week of whichever prize pack you'd like to win and you're in the draw (and obviously if you happen to pre-order more than one copy you can enter more than once!).
Week One (20-26 September): A copy of Melissa Tagg's fabulous new contemporary romance , Keep Holding On (winner's choice of e-book or paperback), a $20 Amazon Giftcard, and a block of my favourite New Zealand chocolate (winners choice of dark, white or milk).
Week Two (27 September -3 October): A copy of the To Have and To Hold novella collection, featuring stories by Becky Wade, Katie Ganshert and Betsy St. Amant (winner's choice of e-book or paperback), a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card, and a block of my favourite New Zealand chocolate (winners choice of dark, white or milk).
Week Three: (4-10 October): A copy of Nicole Deese's upcoming release, The Promise of Rayne, (winner's choice of e-book or paperback), a $20 Amazon Giftcard, and a block of my favourite New Zealand chocolate (winners choice of dark, white or milk).
I'll also be giving away a $20 gift card (winner's choice of a range of options) to one of my newsletter subscribers on release day (11 October). You can subscribe at www.karaisaac.com/contact/ (subscription form at the bottom of the page).
Thanks so much for your support!
