Too many to mention!

Maybe it's the suffocating loneliness that comes from working in isolation or how you tell your friends and family you're a writer and they stifle their laughter before asking why you don't have a proper job

Actually, the best thing about being a writer is creating - that initial burst of a story weaving its way through a page without having to think about. It's an unadulterated rush, and it's glorious.(less)

Order of the Shadow Dragon

**New book news**

I’m delighted to announce a brand new epic fantasy adventure, Order of the Shadow Dragon, Book One of Legacy of Light & Shadow. I’ve been working on this one for a while and can’t wait to unleash it – it comes out on November 28t

"4.5 / 5 stars

I love a good Steven McKinnon book. My SPFBO4 team was lucky enough to pull Steve’s entry, “Symphony of the Wind,” and I’ve been a major fan of all his books ever since.

His stories move at breakneck pace. Events you think might happen i" Read more of this review »

Order of the Shadow Dragon by Steven McKinnon
Definitely for adults, though the action isn't terribly violent and blood/gore is kept to a minimum. A hint of romance but any spicy scenes are "off-camera".

The Cool Kids' Fa...: So ... read any good books lately? 2114 1311 Dec 01, 2025 09:40PM
“As much as he loved Old Earth artefacts, it was tremendously frustrating at times to know that it wasn’t possible to prove the original purpose of so many of them. Spotting an object he had puzzled over for the past two years, he stopped at its shelf, picked up the crumpled piece of plastic, and unfolded it until it had the approximate shape of a woman. She could be inflated by blowing air into an attached valve. Although he did have his suspicions as to what she was for (and he blushed even thinking about it—he described her as a ‘portable statue of a surprised female’ to potential customers), he still yearned to know whether he was right or not.”
