一九二八年生於日本兵庫縣。臨床心理學者、心理治療師。

京都大學理學院數學系畢業，京都大學教育學博士，京都大學名譽教授。日本首位取得榮格派分析家資格者，擅長以心理學角度出發，針對日本古典文學、教育、宗教、社會問題等廣泛領域提出建言。

二零零七年七月十九日逝世。
