I met Helen Lederer at Peasenhall Literary Festival

I met Helen Federer at Peasenhall Literary Festival. Helen was a really funny speaker (as you'd expect) and I can recommend Peasenhall Festival as a go to event. Put it on your calendars for next year.

An anime summary of 'The Muslim Prince' on TikTok

Ronnie Malina, one of my  readers from Texas, made this anime summary of my book 'The Muslim Prince'. He's added it to his other book summaries on his 'Boundless Volumes' page
The book is a respectful alternate history of  the British Royal Family if Princess Diana had not suffered the accident in Paris.

50th Anniversary of the wreck of the Francis Holmes

FREE to download 22nd to 24th Aug 2025
Fifty years ago this month I was working as a mechanic at an oil terminal on the coast of Libya. As I was walking from one maintenance job to another I looked out to sea and saw that the ship that worked in the bay on which the divers lived, had exploded. There was a huge mushroom cloud above the Francis Holmes.Six men were killed in that explosion and many more badly burned. I still think about the accident to this day.To honour the men who died, most of whom were Maltese, I offer my book 'A Horse in the Morning' free to download for a few days.
'A Horse in the Morning' is the memoir of an engineer, teacher, actor, writer and failed astronaut. The stories are funny, dramatic, sometimes mysterious, and told with quirky British understatement.
I'd be grateful for a review if you enjoy the stories.
This is a previous review:
'Roger Ley's collection of memoirs is like a series of short stories, all self-contained, as if one is looking through a snapshot album covering seven decades. Some of these stories have already been published in magazines such as The Oldie, Readers' Digest and Best of British. The stories are told with wit, charm and a self-deprecating humour - very British. I particularly enjoyed the childhood stories (my brother also manufactured explosives) and the more recent episodes. The book is well-structured, eminently readable and I love the way it goes full circle, beginning (more-or-less) and ending with the author's TV/film/showbiz experiences.'

One Thousand Times YES!!!!
Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 of 5 starsReviewed: 07-30-25
Harry’s back! Oh lawdy, how I’ve missed him AND those he conscripts into his satirical adventures - and this, THIS brilliant offering “Harry Lampeter and the Unholy Alliance” is pure gob smack me … oh NO he didn’t … holy $%&@ he DID … gold! Our author has been very, VERY creative in THIS one, and the result is STUNNING! There are surprises aplenty, both in character development AND plot development - none of which I saw coming!! I won’t spoil the soup by giving any away, but I will say without reservation, brace yourself, you’re in for a wildly entertaining ride - one that I would not have missed for the world! I was so engaged, SO enthralled, so completely immersed in this story! MY reality be dammed! Dinner … pffft! Let them eat take out! There was NO WAY I was stopping! The chef’s kiss … the narration was also perfect, absolutely PERFECT and on point at every juncture! “Harry Lampeter and the Unholy Alliance” is one heck of a marvelous satirical stunner - I’m still smiling from ear to ear at the thought of what I just listened to, and dear author if you’re listening, more, pretty, pretty please! This one … easily … FIVE stunning stars across all categories!!!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:Action-packed, Entertaining, Funny, Informative, Original, Unpredictable, Whimsical, Witty, Wonderful characters"

Taking a rest from writing but waiting for Audible to publish Harry Lampeter's latest adventures

July is a nice month in the veg garden and I try to stay away from my computer and take a rest from writing. However, Craig Bowles has just finished narrating 'Harry Lampeter and the Unholy Alliance' and we are waiting with bated breath for it to be released by Audibles QA department. Enjoy the summer, grow more vegetables, but watch this space for news of Harry and Ms R's latest adventures.

NEWLY RELEASED: The fourth novel in the Harry Lampeter series

Harry Lampeter and the Unholy Alliance A satire at the expense of the establishment, but as Harry Lampeter says, ‘If you can’t take a joke, you shouldn’t have joined.’ Two years after he blew up the Channel Tunnel to foil the Franco-German invasion, Harry Lampeter returns to England, hoping for employment with MI6. The political climate in Europe has changed. The Roman Catholic Church, led by mad Pope Benedict XVII, is attempting to fill the power vacuum in Europe by reviving the Holy Roman Empire, with himself as Emperor. The CIA has other ideas, as do the leaders of the European nations.  Harry discovers that his half-sister, Emma, and her daughter are being held at the Mary Magdalen Hospital for Penitent Women and sets out to release them. Meanwhile, Ms R returns in a new guise, burning with anger and seeking revenge on her former boss, Brigadier Crisp, the head of MI6. The fourth part in the series - Harry Lampeter and the Return to Steam
