JESSILYN STEWART PEASLEE loves fairy tales and bringing them to life. Her debut novel, Ella, was awarded the Silver Quill by the League of Utah Writers, and her third novel, Finding Beauty in the Beast, was awarded the Gold Quill, both in YA Fiction. She loves encouraging youth in their writing and in achieving their dreams, and has visited schools throughout Utah and surrounding states. Jessilyn graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in English. She grew up in Southern California in a family of avid readers, music lovers, movie quoters, and sports fans. She now resides in Utah with her amazing science-teaching husband and their five hilarious, incredible boys. As you read this, she is probably folding laundry . . . or should be.

It's so great to hear from you! Thank you for your question. (I'm sorry it took me a while to see it!) Here is a link to the kindle version of Ella's Will. For some reason this one has been trickier to find in this format. It doesn't just show up like my other books, so I'm so glad you asked. Let me know if you have any more questions. Happy reading!

Those are the foundation of the story and are critical. Those are what I focus on first, making sure my characters are real and that the story line is compelling. I add descriptions later to make the story come alive. :) I try to immerse myself in the scene--what is the character seeing, feeling, hearing, etc.? When have I been in a similar situation and what did I see, hear, and feel? When I ask myself questions like that, I can hopefully convey those things on the page and hopefully the reader feels them too. A lot of the time, the descriptive phrases come to my mind when I'm not writing, just living life, which is when we really feel things anyway. Pay attention to those moments and write down those phrases and words that come to mind while you're really experiencing life, then fit them into your story. The more you experience, the more you can describe. I hope that answered your question. It was great to hear from you! (less)

“I never cared too much about my appearance, but I certainly didn't want to look like someone who never cared.”
Jessilyn Stewart Peaslee, Ella

“But your mother used to have a saying: "Pretty is pretty for a little while, but true beauty is beautiful forever."
Ella pursed her lips. "How do you know if you're pretty or if you're beautiful?"
"I'll give you a hint." He reaches out to playfully touch the tip of her nose. "You can't see beauty in a mirror.”
Jessilyn Stewart Peaslee, Ella

“Sometimes the most important things in our lives are the things we can't see."
"like what?" I whispered through my tears
