Mary has been writing since the spring of 1999, but only just published her first book, The Only One, in August 2015. She is a 2008 graduate of Florida State University, and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida. When not writing, she is a voracious consumer of visual media, particularly her favorite TV shows.

I tend to write until I'm finished, a…moreMore often than not, for me, writer's block is usually my brain's way of telling me that I need to take a break. I tend to write until I'm finished, and if I finish something particularly big or time consuming, my brain basically says "okay you need to settle down now", and even if I WANT to write, I don't really have the energy/motivation to do so.

Now, if I'm stuck on a particular scene, I usually just skip over it, and then come back to it. (Used to be if I got stuck on a scene, everything would just come to a screeching halt, but I've been trying to evolve past that.)

But in general, I just let it run its course, and spend the downtime thinking about my story until the urge to write comes back again. I don't really believe in forcing anything; it's better to just let it be.(less)
