Sarah Conner and Kyle Reece from The Terminator.
Although these two character only share one day together, James Cameron did an excellent job of showing the viewer that they had very strong and real love - love that transcended two worlds at two different times. It was also very believable, putting the whole time travel issue to one side. Kyle clearly loved Sarah, even before he had met her. And Sarah's life was given meaning and direction from Kyle - she became a tough character in the sequel and gave birth to the savior of all humanity!(less)

I have often wondered where I got this idea and have narrowed it down to a drinking session I had with a friend in London once. During our conversation one night, he told me of a friend of his who had died of a drug overdose in his flat while he was partying with two escorts. After finding him collapsed in the bathroom, the escorts called for an ambulance and had to give police statements.
Anyway, afterwards I was mulling over the scenario, thinking about what would have happened if the escorts had just left the guy. How long would he have lay dead in his flat before being discovered. What if the escorts robbed him before leaving? What if the escorts had played a part in his death by supplying him with drugs? What if the man had died, not as a result of the drugs, but what if one of the escorts had been an assassin and had killed the man on behalf of the British government because the man was a spy....
So I decided to go with it and create a story along those lines. My first idea was that the two escorts discovered secret files that the man had been supplying to the Russians, or the Chinese etc. They fled with the documents and had the secret service on their tail...
Then I decided it would be better if there was just one escort and the assassin had to chase him down, and of course they fell in love....lol
Hope that answers for you and thanks for the question!!1(less)

Tough Love????

As a teenager I often got into the wrong situations with the wrong people - clueless back then as I was. I would slack school every day. I would smoke – the real sign of a rebel. If I did actually attend school I wouldn’t shut up and listen. Oh no, not me. I would answer back. If I thought those in authority were wrong I would tell them so.

Needless to say, none of this went down well and I was oft Read more of this blog post »

Interesting to read of Darth Vader in his early days and how he secretly resented the Emperor. Decent story and plot but lacks a true climax. Worth the read for fans.

A very good premise kept me reading this sci-fi novel. Interspersed with backstory and educational chapters on antimatter and other science type stuff, it was interesting but had a plot that seemed a little too vague.

Quite an engaging and easily read account of this man's ordeal. Long and at times a little too detailed but I think that adds to the reader's sense of what the man went through. The films do add much more in the way of emotion, which the text seems t ...more

"Under the Skin is a reviewer's nightmare - it's literally impossible to discuss this book without touching the plot, and the whole thing hinges on mystery that surrounds it. This is a novel which is all about the big reveal, and Michel Faber delights" Read more of this review »

“Perhaps we should not be too surprised that nature sometimes appears counterintuitive to a tribe of observant, carbon-based ape descendants roaming around on the surface of a rocky world orbiting an unremarkable middle-aged star at the outer edge of the Milky Way galaxy.”

“When asked, “How do you write?” I invariably answer, “One word at a time,” and the answer is invariably dismissed. But that is all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That’s all. One stone at a time. But I’ve read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope.”
