I also enjoy completely immersing myself in a time period--the music, the food, the clothes, the politics, the attitudes, and then trying to work that into the story in a way that the reader feels *there*.(less)

Not Quite Miss Austen by Kim Griffin
"This was such a sweet story. I really loved the writerly aspects, and found it charming to consider what publishing and marketing would have looked like in the 50s. The romance was sweet, the faith messaging was clear, and the cozy mystery aspect was" Read more of this review »

Enjoyed this book so much. Beautifully told and carefully researched, with realistic and likable characters. Appreciated the characters’ robust faith arcs and the way the gospel was woven in so clearly.

Gregory is one of the best authors out there for MG historical fiction. Loved this sweet story and can’t wait to read the others in the series. Appreciate the Christian values woven throughout. Perfect for my 8 year old

“But love doesn't mean shielding the one you love from all pain and heartache and hardship. It means being there with them when you can and trusting them to God when you can't.”
Jennifer Q. Hunt, Through Thorny Ways

“We believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He took on all the sin, and all the wrath of God for that sin, and now offers grace and forgiveness to those who in faith receive Him and His gift of eternal life. And when you believe that, Cal, when that’s real in your soul, then you can show grace and forgiveness to other people, too.”
Jennifer Q. Hunt, Great Waters

“Like the song, it both offended and mesmerized her. All of this, foreign to anything she’d ever heard at church or experienced in life, sounded too fantastic to be real, yet these people truly believed it. More, they seemed to be, however imperfectly, living it. Davis had certainly given his late wife sacrificial love even when she did not reciprocate. Arilee’s respect for Adam and his devotion to her were bolstering them through the pain of their infertility.”
