My understanding of Writer's Block is that it is a (temporary) lack of inspiration.

It can be analogized to a baseball player in a hitting slump: not making well-timed contact with the ball. A deer-in-the-headlights writer is not making contact with their thoughts...their theme(s)...their book's direction.

All inspiration has a source. It could be our minds (intelligence), our hearts (intuition), observing others (motivation), or from the Lord (revelation).

Because Growing Food God's Way is about the Paul Gautschi's relationship with the Lord and how that blessed his orchard and garden, I cannot remember having a bout with writer's block. Early on, I would read the entire manuscript to re-connect with the flow of the book and move on from there. I think Ernest Hemingway used to do that, so it made sense.

Where he & I part company is that I would ask God to show me what to write. After all, it's His book as far as I'm concerned anyway...and you can't be Omniscient and have writer's block at the same time (right?).

So if you're a believer in a writing slump...you can ask the Source. If not, please consider a personal relationship with God, but also review the other sources of inspiration for guidance and the "strong wind" to fill your literary sails. DD(less)

Don't let your Aspiring keep you from Perspiring.

Thoughts come rather easy. Writing is work.

Good writing is both an art and science. To achieve good writing is a "DaVinci" experience because you have used the science of writing to broaden the art of it (or visa versa). DD(less)

Another addition to Moore's "Love God" series. BTW, I hear the next is slated for 2025 publication.

Thankfully, this book is not about marriage. It's about us divorcing from things in our lives - like past failures. (And who doesn't have those??)

“FACT: There is no evidence that supports this myth.”
David Devine, Growing Food God's Way: How Paul Gautschi Takes Us Back to Eden and Beyond

“Despite what we would call ‘limits,’ nature manages to craft materials of a complexity and a functionality that we can only envy. The inner shell of a sea creature called an abalone is twice as tough as our high-tech ceramics. Spider silk, ounce for ounce, is five times stronger than steel. Mussel adhesive works under water and sticks to anything, even without a primer. Rhino horn manages to repair itself, though it contains no living cells. Bone, wood, skin, tusks, antlers and heart muscle–miracle materials all–are made to live out their useful life and then to fade back, to be absorbed by another kind of life through the grand cycle of death and renewal.”
David Devine, Growing Food God's Way: How Paul Gautschi Takes Us Back to Eden and Beyond

“English-born minister Leonard Ravenhill (1903-1994) made the observation: “The self-sufficient do not pray, the self-satisfied will not pray, and the self-righteous cannot pray.”
