It’s that time again!!!!!!!!

You always here me talking about how fast time is flying – and it just did it again!

It seems like just yesterday I was getting ready for the Halloween event at Waterstone’s, and now it is December. We’ve had a load of snow and Christmas is on the way!!!

So, about the Halloween event, I wish you’d all been there. It was brilliant!  We call came out in costume – even the staff. I was dressed as a giant bat, and the knights out front caused a stir!  They looked like they were pillaging the shopping centre.

I did meet a lot of folks and made a lot of new friends. This is the best part of being a writer, getting to meet the readers! It’s pure magic.

But now that is gone and Christmas is coming. I hope Santa brings me what I’ve asked for… but I can’t tell you, that would be cheating!  I also hope he brings each of you want you really want as well.

Christmas really is my favourite time of year. I’m about to get out the decorations and make my house look like a Santa’s Grotto threw-up in it.  I do go a bit crazy and smother the place in tinsel and lights. But hey, that’s what they are there for.

I’m also about to start a bit of a project – right in the middle of Christmas. I am going to be busy trying to make a rather large Pegasus out of papier-mâché. Why? I hear you asking? Because in February, I am going to be at the SFX Weekender in Camber Sands Holiday Park in East Sussex. It starts on February 4, 2011. And my latest book, “Pegasus and the Flame” is going to be available there. So I’d like to have a big Pegasus for the display. I’ve never tried making something like this, so it will be a bit of an adventure.  Once I get started, I’ll take some pictures along the way for you to laugh at. I am going to make such a mess!!!!!

The SFX Weekender is a big Science Fiction/Fantasy convention. There are going to be loads of celebrities and writers there. Please take a moment and look it up on the Internet. http://www.sfxweekender.com Maybe you can join me there. It promises to be a blast! Just look for the giant papier-mâché Pegasus and you’ll find me.

Here now are some pictures from the Halloween Waterstone’s event.  I hope you like them.

HALLOWEEN APPROACHES!!!!

It seems like I blink and more time has passed.  Hasn't this year gone fast? I don't even remember it being summer and now we're already into autumn! It will be Halloween before you know it.

Mind you, I do love Halloween and all the costumes that come out. I adore the fun and colour of it all. Actually, on Friday, October 29, I'm going to be doing a book signing at Waterstones in the Hastings Shopping centre. A bunch of us are going to be in costume and there is going to be a costume competition for everyone who comes dressed in their Halloween best. I'll also have some Trick-Or-Treat sweets at my table, so if you're in the area, please stop in and say hello.

This weekend, I've been working in my chicken pen – Doesn't that sound like fun?  Cleaning out the houses and putting up new covers to keep the kiddies from getting wet in all the rain we've been having.  There is nothing sadder than a wet chicken!  Wait, yes there is. That's several wet chickens!

All of these chickens are pets and have names.  I've raised most of them from eggs and they are so tame. The trouble is, being as tame as they are all they want to do is stand on your feet and have lots attention. But when you're in their pen trying to clean it for them, it's hard not stepping on them. At least now they've all got fresh straw and a cover to keep them dry.

Hey, guess what? This week, I'm hoping to start a new book.  It's going to be a bit spooky, but that will make it all the more fun to write. There will also be lots of adventure, but mainly, I want it spooky! I'm not sure of the title yet, but I think it will be "Mirror Walkers".  I'll let you know how it's going.

And finally, we're only a few months away from 'Pegasus and the Flame' being released.  This all serves to remind me how fast this year is moving. It feels like I just finished it, and now book 2 is done and book one comes out in February!!! I'll soon have the cover to book 2 to show you. I think it's going to be amazing.

So keep an eye open and I'll try to post it here as soon as I can.

Take care my friends and I'll be back soon!

Dragons are back at Bodiam!

Hi again.

You know, I just can't keep away from Bodiam Castle.  I think it's got to be one of my favourite places in England.  But even better, my friends and I get to dress up as characters from my Shadow books and storm the castle!

Our next date appearing there is Wednesday, 4th of August 2010 for the Fun Day event!  I'll be there with my knights and a few dragons. But also, another dear friend and writer, Jill Hucklesby will be there with me. She'll also all decked out in her medieval finest! Last time I saw Jill, she was dressed as a dragon! (Yes, that's her there)

Dragon ran wild in Brighton

We'll both be reading from our books and meeting and greeting our fans.

Here is a picture from the last time we did it.

With only a week to go, I'm getting very excited. I really hope some of you can come along and say HI! And if you're really good, I can introduce you to Lord Dorcon who will be there trying very hard to kill Kira! (He can try all he wants, she will always outsmart him…)

See you there…

Never forgetting, Shadow of the Dragon

I have been so busy with the Pegasus books that I have been shamefully ignoring my first two books, Shadow of the Dragon 1, Kira and Shadow 2, Elspeth.

Now, I want to thank you all for writing to my website. I thoroughly enjoy hearing from each and every one of you. And I want to answer one of the biggest questions that I regularly get asked:

Will there be a Shadow of the Dragon 3? The answer is… wait for it… YES!

But, to be honest, this isn't going to be like my other books. At this moment in time, my publisher doesn't want to publish a third book in that series. They would rather I move on to the next stories.

But I've left so many questions unanswered. Did Lord Dorcon die at the bottom of the tower? Will Onnie be turned back into a man? What will happen with Elspeth and Kira? What about Dane and Shanks? And most of all, what happens to the dragons?

All of those questions will be answered. I promise.

What I intend to do is write book three, and then publish it privately for all of you who want to know what happens. I haven't started writing it yet, as it is still simmering in that strange place in my head where all of my stories come from. But when it is ready it will burst forth and all the questions will be answered – and more!

I also promise to let you know when I start it, so you can join me on that journey as well. And if you like, you can write to the website and offer your own suggestions on what you would like to see happen. I can't guarantee that I'll use all the idea, but we can have a lot of fun trying to put them all in!

So as always, watch this space!

When Pegasus flies!

Well, here we go, no more excuses. It's time I joined the 21st century…. Let's see. I've got the Website (thanks Chas, you're a STAR) and now, I've finally got a BLOG!

So, welcome to my first Blog.

I decided to start this as there is a lot going on these days and I wanted to keep a record of all the exciting stuff – and to share it with you. I guess the very best thing is that I've just seen the cover to my next book, 'Pegasus and the Flame'. It is so  beautiful.  As soon as I can work out how to upload it, I promise to publish it here.

I couldn't be more thrilled if I tried. Oh, to have a stallion like that! Can't you just imagine it?  I guess that's why I wrote this book. Actually when you think about it, all of my books so far have characters that can fly. Hmmm…. There seems to be a pattern here! And it doesn't stop with these books. I've got more ideas in the pipeline for characters that can fly!

Right now, at this moment, I've just taken a much needed break. Today I've been working full out on the re-write of book 2 of the Pegasus series. There were some changes needed that my editor thinks will improve the book. So, I'm making them. One good point, I get to keep Cupid going. Yes!

I really like him. Apart from Pegasus, he's my favourite character. And yes, before you ask, Cupid also has wings. I couldn't resist them. It's just so much fun trying to hide a large set of wings in a baggie sweatshirt and jam them down the back of a pair of jeans!

So it's all go at the moment. I really should be outside enjoying the wonderful weather. The garden needs work, weeds need to be pulled, and veggies need to be planted. But where am I? In my dark cave playing with Pegasus.

As it stands, Pegs one comes out in February 2011. It still feels a long way away, but the year is going so fast, I could blink and it will be here!

So please join me on this wonderful journey and watch this space….
