Rachel E. Bailey was born and raised in New York City and currently lives in New York State’s gorgeous Hudson Valley. Now, with a swanky new legal name--beetle bailey--and better-fitting pronouns, they've been a freelance everything, from copywriter to article writer. They've also worked in various retail and office jobs that have tried to, but haven’t quite, sucked the soul out of them.

beetle has earned a bachelor of fine arts in advertising, with a focus on copywriting, and is most of the way toward earning a second bachelor’s in English, with a minor in creative writing. beetle has been published in Words 57, The Finger, The Stonesthrow Review, on Yahoo!Voices, and Amative Magazine, Writing.com 2014 Anthology, and has had two short plays

I watch television. I try to cultivate a hobby and fail miserably. I tell myself that that's it . . . I finally ran out of words. A few weeks or even months may pass. Then someone says something memorable, or does something questionable, or I feel something that wants exploring, and I tell myself it isn't writing to put down a few words. But eventually, I have a story or an essay or a poem--or even just a well-worded rant. But it's something. And like that, the words start to come again. Writer's block is just my psyche's way of giving me time to rest and replenish the good stuff.(less)
