I am currently doing a poetry IG challenge involving prompts. I thought I would share some of them over here. You can find me on Instagram @sevenayn and my book @botanicarooted <3

What I Carry

He showed up once
With a dying rabbit
Sobbing, snotting, shaking
the rabbit very still,
Shocked.
I should have seen then
In his glassy quick eyes
How he carried things;
out at arm's length,
right next to his heart.

I wrung it's neck that night
My breath a cold shroud
Swirling, slipping, sinking
the rabbit very still,
Stopped.
I told him it died in it's sleep
Cuz
How I carry things;
right up against my chest,
away from anything vital.
