Hi Cheral,

Thanks for the question. I generally love whatever I'm working on at the time, because it's channeling something of great interest to me in that period of time. That noted, I'd have to say The German and Butcher's Road are favorites among my novels. I go back and forth on which I prefer. As for shorter work, Parish Damned and Torn duke it out in the novella category.

Thanks again! Lee(less)
Lee Thomas I suppose that depends on what point in my life I sat down to write it. Early on, a functional title might have been, "This Probably Won't End Well." At this point in my life, I'm less pessimistic, though hardly an optimist. I've never really thought about the memoir form. I imagine if I have anything interesting to say, it shows up in my fiction (I hope). I'm pretty happy with my existence, but I don't think it would be particularly interesting to others. Thanks for asking!(less)

THE EVENT books are not mine.

Someone has linked their titles to my author page. I am working to get them removed. I did not write, nor do I endorse these titles.

“Over the years I had convinced myself that brutality required motive, but this is a fool’s deceit. Cruelty is the motive; religion and politics and resources are simply the cloth man weaves to curtain his desires for violence.”
Lee Thomas, The German

“Cruelty is not taught. It is as certain as a compass point. One can be instructed in the specifics of cruelty, like one can be taught to use a spoon, a knife, a fork, but even without these skills a man will still eat. The need is with us.”
Lee Thomas, The German

“At night they emerge from the water, stalking over the grassy field, leaving bits of themselves on the ground. They gather at my bedside – Bum, Harold, David, the father I’d known before the war, and my neighbor Mr. Lang – and they gaze down on me, whispering revelations of who they were and who I am.
And the strongest voice belongs to the German, who looks upon me with concern and warmth, and he tells me, “If you can stand up, you’ll live.”
Lee Thomas, The German
