Matia ben Ephraim was homeschooled in a small town in southern Ontario as the youngest of four children. Ever since she started reading as a three-year-old, she's been an enthusiast of the enchanting world of words and the stories they can tell. Always an avid reader of fiction, she was writing journal accounts when she was 5, then original stories at 7, and once she turned 8 she had decided (after a very deliberate and logical assessment of the pros and cons of several potential careers) that being a novelist was her calling. She self-published her first novel, The Wizard of Kharathad, when she was 17, then its prequel when she was 18. ...more

That is, I work on later scenes, if the ideas for them come more easily. But there are many methods of confronting the great wordless void; you can just plow on through it anyway in writing, and edit it later. Rereading what I already wrote up to that point sometimes helps get me thinking along the same lines. Talking the dilemma over with a helpful friend can get the ideas flowing, too, with a little brainstorming - and maybe the lightning of inspiration will strike!(less)

There are worse things in the world than a boring book!

It's not a crime to be boring. Of all the things a book could be - cheap, cliche, annoying, awkward, inane, insidious, disturbing, immoral - dullness is the least of its flaws. And besides which, boredom is in the eye of the beholder. People always want something to make them interested, but they seem to forget that being interested can be a conscious choice. Denae Christine Hi, back, homeschooled authoress!

I mostly listen to audiobooks (on doublespeed). That way I can multi-task (walk, cook, bike, drive, etc.). That's the only way I can get through so many books.

I'm jealous you've been reading since age 3. :)
