8 days to go!
April 5th is right around the corner, which means my debut novel 'Lucky Me' is just about to be officially released. Am I excited? Of course. Am I completely terrified. Absolutely.
It's been a long journey getting to this point, and I can see the finish line now. Editing was a tedious and slow process, but marketing has been nonstop. But don't get me wrong, I've loved every single minute of it. I've learned so much more than I thought I would and am so grateful for getting to interact with these amazing new people!
But I think it's only just hit me that people will actually be reading my novel. MY novel. My 200-something page Word document that I obsessed over since I was 15 years old, never expecting it to actually transform into a proper YA book. Yet here we are, and the experience is completely surreal and overwhelming.
I've been lucky that I've gotten mostly great reviews so far. Honestly, I thought I'd be upset by the criticism, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how constructive the feedback has been. It's really helped improve the writing I'm doing right now. It's hard not to take it to heart, but I'm definitely learning that you need thick skin in this business.
I was 15 when I first started writing Lucky Me, and about 17 when I finished it. I've done a lot of growing up since then and I'm sure there are a hundred things I'd have done differently if you gave me the chance now. But at the end of the day, this book is full of love and care. It certainly brought a lot of smiles to my face while writing it, and I hope it gives you readers some of that happiness too.
Only 8 days to go and I'm nervous, excited, anxious and giddy. I just can't wait for this next chapter to begin (slight pun intended).
Xx
