"Engrossing blend of Bonhoeffer and memoir. Incredibly well done, and has given me lots to ruminate about--particularly where and to whom I belong."

Mid-Faith Crisis by Catherine McNiel
"I wish I had this book three years ago, but having it now is such a gentle validation. I'm a little speechless at how good it is. if you're a person of faith, you should read this. if you're in ministry, you NEED to read this. preferably the audioboo" Read more of this review »
Mid-Faith Crisis by Catherine McNiel
"This book was so good. It helped with questions I had and questions I didn’t know I had and left me feeling much more hopeful—and grace-caught—than when I started. This book meets you where you actually are, not where you pretend to be on Sunday morn" Read more of this review »

Ellen F. Davis
“Bonhoeffer’s permanent legacy as a theologian has been to show that in the modern world, as in Josiah’s and Huldah’s Jerusalem, fostering the discomfiting yet life-giving practice of reading the Bible against ourselves is a major public responsibility of the Christian teacher and theologian.”
Ellen F. Davis, Biblical Prophecy: Perspectives for Christian Theology, Discipleship, and Ministry

Teresa de Ávila
“But, as I know that strength arising from obedience has a way of simplifying things which seem impossible, my will very gladly resolves to attempt this task although the prospect seems to cause my physical nature great distress; for the Lord has not given me strength enough to enable me to wrestle continually both with sickness and with occupations of many kinds without feeling a great physical strain. May He Who has helped me by doing other and more difficult things for me help also in this: in His mercy I put my trust.”
Teresa of Ávila, Interior Castle

Rebecca Ryder
“You’ve suffered a long time, yet you continue to stay, not because it’s easy but because you don’t want to hurt the people around you. Every day of your life so far, despite the pain, you have chosen to stay. People rarely talk about this side of suicide, but every time you make that decision not to end things, you’re making a sacrifice that most people can’t even begin to understand. You’re not a coward, you are not taking the ‘easy way out.’ You’re fighting a battle every single day, and you’re doing it out of love. I don’t think you realise just how brave that is. Not only is it an act of incredible selflessness, but it is something quite extraordinary.”
Rebecca Ryder, The Dream To End All Dreams
