BRITTANY BARBERA is a best-selling author, singer/songwriter, and ceramic artist who values the ministry of presence, the power of prayer, and the restorative gift of a good laugh. A therapist at heart but an artist by trade, she loves to sing songs, tell stories, and design beautiful collections to inspire hope and cultivate compassionate connections.

A multi-passionate artist, she is the owner of Barberacotta Pottery and has released music singles such as Yet I Will Praise (2011) and Let Me Be Weak (2016). Known for her emotive vocals and honest lyrics, she released her debut EP, The Sparrow, in 2013, followed by ShadowDays in 2017. Her latest musical compilation, Comfort & Joy (2023), serves as a companion soundtrack to this book.

Cry.

Just kidding; I only do that sometimes.

I like to take walks, listen to podcasts, go to the gym or the pool, talk to a friend. Sometimes you just need to get away from your work for a little and come back to it later to be inspired. And sometimes you just need to live life a little more until you get filled up again and have something to share, or worth sharing.(less)

WHEN STUBBORNNESS PAYS OFF

I can generate an opinion about almost anything in two seconds flat. That I actually know something about the subject in question is a mere formality.  While maturity has taught me it’s usually best to think before I speak, I’ll inevitably have the urge to share my perspective with as many people as will listen.

In college, I once walked into class

“One of the greatest gifts we can give someone is to let them know we are strong enough to hold their strength if they need to lay it down for a while.”
Brittany Barbera, Let Me Be Weak: What People in Pain Wish They Could Tell You

“If we make the brokenhearted feel guilty that their hearts are actually broken, they may start to hide the truth, even from themselves. Suppressing their emotions only works for so long before it starts leaking out in other places—and if our attitudes encourage a habit of hiding, it will only delay their healing.”

Nothing But Readi...: Draco Lizards READ BOOKS 1304 390 Nov 07, 2016 02:36AM
“When you are in the middle of a story it isn't a story at all, but only a confusion; a dark roaring, a blindness, a wreckage of shattered glass and splintered wood; like a house in a whirlwind, or else a boat crushed by the icebergs or swept over the rapids, and all aboard powerless to stop it. It's only afterwards that it becomes anything like a story at all. When you are telling it, to yourself or to someone else.”
Margaret Atwood, Alias Grace
