If I’m not in a creative space I’ll move on to something else, maybe focus on some other aspect of the writing process, for instance research, or I’ll do some kind of administrative task. Getting frustrated is a waste of time and energy, and hampers the flow of imaginative voices from the subconscious part of the mind. I find that it is better to move forward in some way, shape or form by focussing on something within my control. That might mean taking a break and sitting outside with a cup of tea as I soak up the sun and marvel at the magic all around me! Before long some spark has triggered a lift off and I’m hurtling towards the Crab Nebula on the back of Puff the Magic Dragon, or at the very least accompanied by someone extraordinary, and possibly quite dangerous but very handsome, un-showered and in yesterday’s underwear such was the sudden nature of my departure!
