Love is a strange, beautiful thing. When we’re in it, it’s the most wonderful feeling in the world. We’re light as air, free as birds. True love is the deepest one can dive into themselves. It’s the closest we will ever be to heaven, to real bliss.
“but pretending won’t change the end of our start
and it certainly won’t un-break my heart”
Love doesn’t last forever. In some cases, it’s not ever true--not ever real. One always loves more than another, one is always left in pieces while their heart runs off with another. It will destroy you, fill you with self-loathing, and tilt your world view into something too ugly to ever repair.
It will always leave you.
It will always ruin you.
But somehow . . . in spite of the ache it leaves in its wake
it will always leave you
wanting
more.

A Long Silence
So it's been a long while to say the least since I actually made a legit blog post on here. Without getting into it all, because we all know there is more to every story than the words you see on the page (or in this instance, online), it's been a tough year and a half. Not all bad. But definitely a lot of growing pains.
The last time I made an actual post, I talked about the divorce and everything being copacetic but really a lot of that was saving face. The ending a ten year relationship and moving away to somewhere new, away from all my family and friends was hard. Other things too, caused me to question myself, my ability and completely withdraw. It took me the majority of last year to finally complete the first draft of book one of The Gathering Shadows Saga-- and at that it took a lot of help and encouragement from friends to get myself in the right headspace to do it.
I'm just not writing as much as I used to and while that's okay, it sucks to be there. I miss getting at least 3-4 books out in one year, being able to complete a whole series in a year. I won't make excuses because when it comes down to it, most days I'm just not sitting down to write. I always plan to but then depression and anxiety win over and instead I just sleep more.
I'm not perfect and I know these are things I need to work on, so I guess talking about it I'm trying to acknowledge it so I can move on and fix it. I'm not going to make promises or set dates for when Gathering Shadows come out, but I am striving to write every day...if only just a little, to get myself moving again.
It's a little discouraging seeing others still going full speed ahead, but then I don't know what's going on in their lives or what their situation is. I feel like things have fallen stagnant, and I'm afraid that when I finally do put these books out that nobody will be there to read them...but I'm not giving up. It's just taken me a little bit to find my way back and remember how much I loved writing to the point where I couldn't keep myself away from it.

Cover Reveal- Rat City By Tyffani Clark Kemp
Rat City (Rat City #1)
Dalia deals in secrets and information. It guarantees her what equates to a charmed life among the ashes and ruin of Curr. But that alone isn't enough to save her from the culling that has slowly wiped out what is left of the city’s human population.
Rat City is a myth, a legend leftover from a time of war, but for Dalia, it is her only saving grace. After a deal goes bad, Dalia is chased halfway across the city and into the arms of William Burke. After tending her wounds, he takes Dalia into his care and offers her a place in their underground society.
When Burke and the city's patriarch fail to return from a simple scouting mission, Dalia insists on going along to find them. But life on the desert prairie is dangerous, and she has a secret of her own that could get her killed.

Author Bio:
Tyffani Clark Kemp might be the quietest person in the room, but that just means she’s probably the biggest freak too. She is a multi-genre author with a gift for the written word and a desire to help all Indies reach their full potential. In 2012, she and her best friend Kimberly Fudge started SideStreet Cookie Publishing for authors who want to remain independent, but don’t have the time or the knowledge to do it all themselves. From the age of eleven she dedicated her life to writing and making sure she was good at her craft. Now, she passes that knowledge on to others. Her friends would describe her as determined and giving. She may be quiet, but she always has a story to tell.

Synopsis
She’s the light from his past.
He’s the one her heart has always longed for.
Trained by the best, Christopher Walker has fought hard for his country and even harder to forget the only girl he’s ever loved. He spent countless nights submerged in death and destruction only to find himself clinging to the memories of her when the darkness crept in.
When her life is threatened, Christopher will stop at nothing to protect her. Even if it means having to confront his past.
Alissa Malone never thought she would find herself face-to-face again with the only boy she’s ever loved. But she soon realizes Christopher is not the same man he once was.
His touch is still electrifying—his voice still earth shattering. But there’s a darkness about him that wasn’t there before. A pain he harbors so deep that she can feel it all the way to her soul.
One fateful moment destroyed his very existence, and only one person will be able to make him realize that what he considers an act of dishonor was truly an act of courage.
***
This is Book Four in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It is not necessary to read all of the other books in the series. However, I do highly recommend that you at least read Resisting Temptation, the third book in the Men of Honor series, since this is where these Characters story began.
Review
If you have ever read a K.C. Lynn book, you know that she does not disappoint. Christopher and Alissa are NO exception. They are your usual young adult romance in the beginning: sweet girl from a well-to-do family and the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks that wants to be better for her. Family struggles make it hard for them to continue in their relationship.
We run into them a few years later and there have been some serious changes. After a tragic event brings them face-to-face, they both have to face some demons. Only some demons are harder to face than others. Will they be able to help each other get through the darkness? Or will something tragic happen before they get that chance?
This is another story that absolutely gutted me. You can FEEL the heart, soul, and tears that were put into this story. This is the first book in a long time to make me full blown ugly cry. It was a monumental ugly cry too: snot running down the face, can’t breathe, almost hyperventilating sobbing. But it was the most perfect story that I could ever imagine. I have loved these characters from the beginning and I will continue to love them through the end. K.C. Lynn has a gift and I feel incredibly thankful that she has chosen to share it with the world. This is another amazing 5 star read for me.
Excerpt
One minute I’m drumming to a beat I could never play on my own then the next I’m flipped around to face him, his fingers digging into my hips possessively. I gasp, my breath racing as I stare back at him.
Something passes between us.
A decision.
A choice.
No more fighting this.
“Fuck complicated.” His earlier words fall past his lips then our mouths become one.
The connection slams into me, sending my heart reeling. Our tongues duel in a beautiful battle, the sound of our passion filling the air as our past ignites.
A growl erupts from him, vibrating against my lips. “You taste as good as I remember.”
I want to tell him the same thing but can’t. All I can think about is his mouth never leaving mine, not even for a second, or it might kill me.
At this moment, I’m not even sure how I survived so long without it—without him.
He slides the stool closer to the drum set before his hand moves between us and presses on my chest. I seize the opportunity to suck in air and let him guide me to my back, my shoulders resting against the musical cylinders.
His hands move to mine and it’s then I realize I still have the drumsticks gripped tightly in my fists. With a sexy smirk, he pries them both from me, throwing one on the floor but keeps hold of the other.
His dark eyes never sever from mine as he unbuttons the shirt I’m wearing, exposing me to his stare. The cool air whispers over my heated flesh, my nipples straining for his touch.
“So fucking pretty.” The wild lust in his eyes triggers an intense desire in me.
I bite my lip to keep from moaning but all silent caution is thrown out the window the moment he takes the stick and brushes the tip of it over one aching bud.
Another gasp parts my lips, a fiery whimper purging from me at the cool, hard feel. My back arches, the small touch igniting an inferno in my body.
“Remember the things I used to do to your body, Alissa? How wet you would get when you’d hear me sing?” he murmurs, dragging the smooth wood down my tummy. “You’d beg me to take your ache away. Remember?”
“Yes. Do you?” I ask. I’m dying to know. Has he thought of me as much as I have him?
“Yeah, baby. There isn’t a moment of our time together that I’ve ever forgotten.”
His admission has my throat burning and heart aching. Aching at the loss of him, of what we could have had.
What we did have.
“The good,” he whispers. “The bad.” He slips the stick in my panties. “And the fucking beautiful.”
“Oh, god, Christopher.” His name spills past my lips on a cry of pleasure as he glides the stick through my wet flesh, slowly working it against my swollen clit.
He plays my body like he plays every instrument. With skilled perfection and grace. Keeping his momentum, he leans down just enough to suck a hard nipple into his mouth. His teeth graze it with a pressure that borders on a beautiful pain and it’s enough to send me over the edge.
Blissful cries rip from my throat as I’m swept up into an intense storm of pleasure.
“Good girl, scream for me, Alissa. Let me have your pleasure because next it’s going to be my cock working this hot little pussy.”

Her Master’s Christmas by Lily White ~ Review
I am a Master.
You must know this fact to understand my story.
I’m not here to offer you a delightful or cheerful holiday story.
It is not my job to fill up your heart with the festive spirit of the season.
It doesn’t make sense for me to subscribe to the spirit of the season when it’s one of the things I work so hard to extinguish in the courtesans I train.
Rebecca thought she could seduce me into celebrating a holiday she loves.
I don’t want lights and pretty baubles.
I don’t want trees, or wreaths or garlands.
I don’t want presents or the fantasy of a day where nothing bad exists.
She thought she could manipulate me until my heart warmed just enough to allow some festive cheer into the depths of cold, bleak darkness.
I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again…
She was wrong.
B&N: still pending
Another Amazing 5* Read by the Queen of Dark.
If you loved Her Master’s Courtesan, you will be overjoyed with Her Master’s Christmas.
Master Aiden and his pet Rebecca are at it again. What begins as the typical banter between these two at the beginning of the holiday season quickly turns into another opportunity for Aiden to remind Rebecca of who is really in charge.
The question is, will Rebecca fall into place? Or will she push him too far this time?
Lily White has a way with words that makes you read the most horrific scenes, but love every minute of them while cringing at the same time. I’ve often compared her writing to a car accident. You don’t want to watch, but you have to see what happens. It’s terrible, gruesome, painful, and often terrifying, but it’s written so well that it keeps you sucked in and entranced.
I went through the wringer with this story. I expected to have things figured out at some point, but I was constantly left guessing. Just when you think you have something figured out, another major twist is thrown out there and you’re sent on another tailspin.
So if you’re looking for some major debauchery, but with a tiny twist of holiday spirit, this is definitely the story you want to pick up.

Lily White is a dark writer who likes to dabble on the taboo side of eroticism. She is most known for her Masters Series (Her Master’s Courtesan and Her Master’s Teacher), Target This, Hard Roads, and Asylum. She’s co-authored Serial (a four part serial series). When she isn’t writing as Lily White you can find other books by her under M.S. Willis where she has penned the Control Series, the Estate Series, Because of Ellison (contemporary romance), and Standard Romance Story (Romance Comedy). Lily enjoys stretching her writing muscles by continuing to challenge herself with each book she publishes.
In addition to writing, Lily is an avid reader, gummy bear slayer, and a gold medalist in puppy naps.

Starting Over
So this post is going to get a little personal. I haven’t posted in a long time and there’s a lot of reasons for my silence. Life always seems to get in the way sometimes. I’ve gone through quite a bit over the last year or so, from being diagnosed as bipolar, going to therapy and having to try multiple medications til I found the right mix, to more recently losing my job and now going through divorce.
Obviously nobody goes into a marriage thinking things will end, and I was utterly in love when I got married. In fact, believe it or not, I still love my soon-to-be ex husband. I’ll always love him in some way even if the last few years were difficult ones. But when he told me he wanted a divorce I realized that I haven’t been happy in a long time. I don’t think it was anyone’s fault in particular, just when you go through heavy shit, it changes you. Everything you go through in life changes you.
As much as it feels like a cop out saying it, the both of us changed and we want different things, so this is for the better. Divorce used to be one of my worst fears. And when he told me he wanted the divorce I felt like I failed at something huge. But then I realized that, no, I didn’t fail. I gave it my all and I tried to save things, but some things you can’t save, sometimes, when one part of your life falls apart, it’s because another part of your life is about to come together. This is my chance at a fresh start, a new beginning.
So, I’m leaving Florida in my rear view. I’ve lived around the same area since I was three years old. I’ve always lived near my family and never lived out of state. So near the end of August I’m heading to South Carolina and Tyffani Clark (my writerly bestie) and I are getting a townhouse apartment together. I already have a new job waiting for me up there and I’m excited about the new, uncharted and unfamiliar future. I think in many ways this is something I needed.
I think my mental health, my writing, my creativity all will benefit from this big scary move. As hard as it is to start over, sometimes it’s just what you need.

Bound Guardian Angel by Donya Lynne – New Release + Review
For almost two hundred years, Trace has searched for his mate. Now he’s met Cordray. Brash, sassy, and covered in tattoos, Cordray isn’t at all the type of female he thought his mate would be, but he can’t deny the way his body reacts every time she’s near. She calms him and sparks his desire in a way no oneever has, which terrifies him, because if she has that kind of power over him, what else is she capable of?
Cordray thinks Trace is the most exciting male she’s ever met, but she refuses to drop her guard and let him in. She loved deeply once, only to be spurned when her lover mated another. The heartbreak was so severe, she lost her ability to feel. Trace has reawakened her sense of touch, but she’s scared that if she takes another chance on love only to be rejected again, this time she’ll lose her life.
With both committed to pushing the other away, every conversation escalates into a war of words. But for these two, their arguments are just foreplay. It’s only a matter of time before their desire grows stronger than their resistance. No other has tamed Trace’s inner beast the way Cordray can. And now that he’s found her, God help anyone—or anything—that tries to take her from him.
Bound Guardian Angel is the 7th book in the All The Kings Men series. Usually by this far in, the books are either getting better or dying out. In Donya’s case, her writing just continues to get better and draw me in every time. This story is Trace and Cordray’s. Although we see other characters throughout, our main focus is them. Trace has the power to be the “hand of God,” but he has the issue of his power trying to take over if it’s not beaten to submission, literally. When we find Trace at the beginning of this story, he has been locked up and has been unable to seek help to control his power. He is within minutes of losing the battle over his power when Micah is able to step in.
Cordray is in charge of Trace’s community service so she brings him to her “Asylum.” The place where she raises orphaned children who are learning to come into their power. While there, they manage to form a working relationship, although both have feelings that they refuse to acknowledge. Will Trace and Cordray figure out that they are set to be mates? Or will they fiht their feelings to the point of causing themselves physical harm?
As I said earlier, I absolutely loved this story. There are parts of the story that had me in tears, others that made me laugh out loud, and even more that made my adrenaline pump to see what is going to happen. This is the story that has held my hear in waiting for the last couple of years and it did not disappoint.
Donya Lynne is the bestselling author of the award winning All the King’s Men Series and a member of Romance Writers of America.
