At the age of eighteen Joseph took the decision to take a year out of education to try and decide which path he wanted to tred. Whilst toiling with the options at his feet, Joseph was stuck deep in the Buckinghamshire countryside with a poor Internet connection, and there was little for him to do except read, and read, and read.

Joseph has always had a passion for reading and insisted that one day he would write his own story, yet the opportunity to do so came to him a lot sooner in his life than he expected. One month into his year out, Joseph wrote his first word and has not looked back. That was the question that friends had asked over and over as I sat staring at the cursor on page one, without a word of my novel yet being written.

Why read? I would reply to them.
