And while I think he was greatly delivered from this sometimes those attitudes come through. It would be something the Bible defines as an evil conscience. And inability to accept gracefully. And I don't completely discount what he preaches or rights but in this case as I read a book that was given to me and recommended highly by a prayer ministry, I am finding again that I cannot agree with his theology in full. He will lead you systematically through many scriptures and has a good mind. But this does not guarantee the conclusions that he will come to are correct. And by the way this is true for every person who teaches the bible. In this case he will say for example here is a statement that I have just on page 115. If fasting was a necessary part of Christ's own preparation, it must also play a part in the disciples preparation. Well no actually no. Jesus entire ministry and life we're in another category and if this statement were even true then we would also have to be prepared to be a human sacrifice for the world. And we are never going to achieve that because we are not qualified to do so. So that right away debunks the fact that fasting is essential to the Christian life. In fact the word fasting was actually inserted in some verses later and is not in the original Bible transcripts. Only a certain places of course. Here's another example of where Derek gets it wrong I think. He says that because Jesus stated and used the word when, as in when you fast and when you pray, this was a necessary inference that he expected all of his followers to fast and pray. That is absolutely again what is called inference and not rational deduction. It cannot be proven. And it cannot be assumed that he would actually want everyone to fast and pray. What Jesus instituted before his finished work on the cross and Resurrection are actually different and create different standards for us. Having him, his very presence inside of us now especially if we are filled with the Spirit, an essential part of the Life of Christ now in this dispensation, we have a very different power. We have more power. Our words and where our heart is at will determine our effectiveness in the kingdom, and as is true for some people fasting enhances that. Others do not find that it creates any enhancement. I believe that this is not a law or even a custom that we are to essentially follow. In fact there's really only one and that is that he instituted that we would love one another as we are rooted and grounded in his love. From this emerges the fruit of the Spirit which includes prayer and possibly fasting but not necessarily. Please note, I personally pray many hours daily and fast weekly. ...more "

"Hope’s Motel by Danyele Read is a Christian contemporary romance fiction first person narration. You can find it on Amazon.

Hope Cassel is a Christian, single mother who inherits a motel from her uncle and aunt. After she renovates it and opens it, she encounters a series of characters that sometimes challenge her faith and other times, strengthens it. Within trials, tribulations, and victories, she finds courage, inspiration, and even romance.

Hope’s Motel is not a genre I typically read and this goes to the “don’t judge a book by its cover” proverb. I found the story and narration very entertaining and inspiring. While the book is episodic in nature, dealing with issues like PTSD and drug addiction, it has an overarching storyline that keeps the book cohesive. I also enjoyed reading the perception of the main character: Hope. She was a very likable person who was easy to relate to. Bottom line, it is a perfect book to read while you’re sitting by the fire and sipping your warm tea.
