Mighty Books Podcast

Podcast Listeners: Here is my (gulp) very first interview with Ryan Oliver and Mighty Books Podcast & MORE about the writing life and my mystery novel, Deadly Yours. I'll just say, it's not easy hearing your own voice, so I've only been brave enough to listen to the first few minutes (so far), but Ryan is a great interviewer and I trust he has edited out any of my big blunders. 😜 ☺️ Thanks Ryan!

Release Day for Deadly Yours!

Today is the official RELEASE DAY of my mystery novel, Deadly Yours. And I couldn't be more ecstatic about the reviews beginning to roll in. There is really nothing like the joy of knowing a stranger likes your book.

"Deadly Yours is that rare mystery written and plotted expertly. A who-done-it with a killer premise told by relatable characters I hope to read again. Put it on your list of must-reads."

~Robert Dugoni, New York Times Bestselling Author of the Tracy Crosswhite series

"Its original premise is unlike anything I’ve read before. The writing is brilliant with a flair for the dramatic. The characters are well-written and engaging. The mystery itself had me riveted to the story. Deadly Yours is an unputdownable mystery. If you’re looking for a fresh, inventive cozy mystery unlike any other, pick up Deadly Yours. 5-Star Review."Deadly Yours

Preorders Now Live for Deadly Yours

Deadly Yours (A Samantha McMican Mystery) by Cyndi L. Stuart

Just confirmed both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have both the print and eBook versions of Deadly Yours available for preorder. The full release of the book on all platforms is April 17th. Now it's starting to feel real.

For those of you who have been following along on this author journey with me, releases are one of those wiggly things that having you planning for one date and then suddenly up comes your book with cover and description on a day you didn't expect or plan for. No complaints. I'm just so excited to see the last five years of writing, editing, writing, editing, dreaming and planning (and did I mention editing!) all come together in one published book. Whew! And WooHoo!

Deadly Yours, April 17, 2024

Just received word that Deadly Yours, published by The Wild Rose Press will have its worldwide release April 17, 2024! If it wasn't exciting enough before, it sure is now!

So, for any of you in WA & OR who might be part of a book club, have a favorite bookstore, or be part of a library, I would love to have a chance to talk about my mystery novel set along the north Oregon coast. I would also be happy to talk about my journey from idea, to manuscript, to a published book. I made so many mistakes, so if I can help another writer dodge those potholes and get on the road to publication, that's a win for us all. Please message me.

The Journey of a First Time Mystery Writer

The few of you who have been following me here on goodreads know that I finished my first mystery novel and have been trying to get it published. I'm now a writer with a book contract thanks to The Wild Rose Press! (Insert WHOOP! here.)

The working title is DEADLY YOURS, but that may change as I move through the final edits with my editor. If all goes well, I will be holding a book in my hand by this time next year, and hopefully so will you.

If you want to be a part of this crazy ride, be sure to follow me on FB and Instagram:

Good News & The Big Weekend

This week is the lead up to the PNWA Annual Conference and it has been a race to the finish line for my first full-length novel Deadly Yours. The good news is that I have received my first request for chapters from an literary agent after a hot flash inducing online pitch yesterday! Actually, good doesn't really describe the feeling right now... Ecstatic! would be a better word. The conference starts tomorrow and I will be pitching to three more agents. Fingers crossed they all want to read more. Stay tuned.

Manuscript is out to Beta Readers

Just a quick update to the continuing saga of me finishing my very first mystery novel. I put the last word on the page then poured over and worried about every sentence and comma until I couldn't look at it one more minute. It is now in the hands of my outstanding and incredibly enthusiastic Beta Readers and the feedback has be surprisingly GREAT! Maybe stressing over each word and dash was worth it after all.

The very best part? None of the readers (so far) have figured out the killer until the big reveal. Bwhahaha... Success!

Still working on my mystery novel

Hello to anyone out there who is actually taking the time to read blogs anymore, especially my sporadic efforts.

I made a little announcement a couple of years ago that has kept me quietly busy. Yes, that first mystery novel. Believe it or not, I've been tapping away at it. Well, it's getting close to those final words... The End!

If I thought getting the idea, the plot, the characters, the location and the killer figured out was hard, it's nothing compared to these final months of pulling it all together. I'm guessing you will want a story that has believable characters, a good twisty-turny plot and gives a satisfying ending? And you will want it all to make some sort of sense? Yes, that's what I thought and why it has taken so darn long.

Stay tuned because if all goes well, I will be 'pitching' my mystery at the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association Conference in late September.
-Pause while I have a small panic attack.-
Okay, I'm better.

Any published writer's out there with any advice for me, I would take any and all suggestions, tips, and words of wisdom.

Good lord, is it July 12th? That's all for now.
I have to WRITE!
