Hi Anna! Thanks so much for reading TIOU; I'm so happy you enjoyed it!

Um, yes, I totally agree -- writing books is HARD. It took me over a year to write my first book because I was experimenting and learning as I went. While writing doesn't necessarily get *easier* with time, practice does make the process go a little bit quicker, and more smoothly. That said, every book seems to have its own unique challenges. :-)

I have three recommendations for you, and I hope they'll help...

1. Don't give up. Even when you're feeling at a loss, try to push through. Once you have a complete draft (even if it's a mess, as first drafts tend to be!) you can revise to make it what you've always envisioned.

2. Read as much as you can, and pay attention to how other writers pace their stories, organize their plot points, and develop their characters. I haven't had any formal training in writing, but I've learned SO MUCH from reading fiction in the same category/genre I write.

3. Pick up some books on craft from your bookstore or library. Some of my favorites are On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King, Take Off Your Pants!: Outline Your Books for Faster, Better Writing by Libbie Hawker, Save the Cat: The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need by Blake Snyder (focuses on screenwriting, but great for fiction writers, too), Plot & Structure - Write Great Fiction by James Scott Bell, and The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr.

Wishing you all the best in finishing your book, and writing many more. <3(less)

My books aren't currently scheduled to be published in India, though my fingers are crossed for the future! They can be purchased at The Book Depository, which has free worldwide shipping, if you're interested. :-) https://www.bookdepository.com/search...

Some recent favorite LGBTQ books are: RED, WHITE, & ROYAL BLUE by Casey McQuiston, BIRTHDAY by Meredith Russo, PICTURE US IN THE LIGHT by Kelly Loy Gilbert, and THE LAST SUMMER OF THE GARRET GIRLS by Jessica Spotswood.

Happy reading, and best of luck with your writing! <333(less)

January Reading Wrap-Up

So many amazing reads in January…

[image error]Stealing Home by Becky Wallace (July, 2019)

This YA romance encompasses everything I love about the genre — savvy heroine, dreamy love interest, snappy dialogue, butterfly-inducing chemistry — while feeling unexpected and fresh. I was rooting for Ryan and Sawyer (and the Buckley Beavers!) from the first pitch. If you’re into contemporary YA, or base

“It's funny how you can forget everything except people loving you. Maybe that's why humans find it so hard getting over love affairs. It's not the pain they're getting over, it's the love.”
Melina Marchetta, On the Jellicoe Road

“He stops and looks at me. 'I'm here because of you. You're my priority. Your happiness, in some fucked way, is tuned in to mine. Get that through your thick skull. Would I like it any other way? Hell, yes, but I don't think that will be happening in my lifetime.”
Melina Marchetta, On the Jellicoe Road

“You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real.”
Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

“Oh, God,’ he whispers, reaching his hand behind my neck and bringing my lips to his. ‘Let’s let the whole fucking world explode this time.’
And we do.”
Jandy Nelson, The Sky Is Everywhere

“I know the expression love bloomed is metaphorical, but in my heart in this moment, there is one badass flower, captured in time-lapse photography, going from bud to wild radiant blossom in ten seconds flat.”
Jandy Nelson, The Sky Is Everywhere
