New Zealand Interview

I'm so pleased to share my second interview with this popular magazine.  It's an honor. 😊

Recent Author Interview from New Zealand's

InFlow magazine.
Briefly tell us about yourself and include three things we won't find in your Author bio.
I've lived in many large cities but chose a country lifestyle. I rescue sick, injured, and unwanted animals who become part of our family, and I'm a former Florida state conservation law enforcement Duty Officer.

What's some of the strongest influences you had while growing up?
I was independent at a very young age. My faith and my love and connection to nature helped me to navigate my life. I was
a voracious reader and thrived on the written word. I was able to escape into the worlds these authors created. They helped
me to develop my own insights and "travel" to places without ever leaving my chair.

What or who inspired you to start writing?
People loved hearing about my family's true adventures living on a mountainside in rural Montana. They soon began asking
me to write a book chronicling our experiences. I happily complied even though I lacked professional writing experience or credentials at the time.

Give us a snapshot of the evolution of your writing journey.
Other than some diary entries, I started writing later in life and was honored and delightedly surprised to receive both a
national and international award early in my writing career. All of my work is non-fiction and is presented with humor and
personal reflections of my perspective on events in life.

Tell us about other interests/hobbies or creative pursuits you enjoy and how they influence your writing.
I have a long standing career as wildlife artist and illustrate the books I write. Training our horses and enjoying their
companionship also provides me with inspiration. Having a love of baking, I like to experiment and create special treats. I
include an original recipe or two in my all my titles. Writing is much like baking. It involves a lot of planning, organizing, and enjoying of the creative process.

Anything that I haven't asked that you would like to tell our readers?
I strive to entertain, comfort, inspire, and provide encouragement through my books. I treasure every handwritten card or email I receive from my readers. I love to hear their personal stories, especially those that express how my writing helped them in some way. They may not know it, but they have given me a special gift when they tell me they feel like they are part of my family as they are reading my books. It encourages me and makes me feel like I have accomplished something important in my life.

The History of Veterans Day

With great respect, I honor America's veterans with gratitude for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for us all.

World War I officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles in France. Fighting had ceased seven months earlier when an armistice between Allied nations and Germany went in to effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918 is regarded as the end of "The Great War."
Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11th to preserve the historical significance of the date, and focuses the attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day, to honor and remember our veterans.

My Partnership with Toys For Tots

I'm very excited to be working on this book drive.  When the coordinator asked me to provide my books to their new Teen Literacy Program, I was honored, but my personal donation capability is limited. However, the more I learned about the program, the more determined I became to find a way to put my books into the hands of teens in need, specifically those the program targets, teen boys and girls in the Foster Care system and on Native American Indian reservations.

The teen years are a pivotal and challenging time of life. Books are a wonderful way to open a new world of dreams and inspire future goals while simultaneously improving the reading and comprehension skills in a fun way. Plus, having a book of their very own will make it a personal treasure.
If you would like to donate or just learn about the program here is more information.   Teen Program
Please share this link, the more money we raise the more teens we can  help.   Thank you all.  www.nancyquinnauthor.com

The Deer with the Dancing Ears

This pretty doe visits our garden often.  Despite the challenges, she didn't let anything disturb her supper, and stayed in good spirits.
