I used to be a normal girl, but all that changed when a vampire tried to eat me, because I’m apparently supposed to be a freakishly powerful witch… so much for being normal!

It turns out that dating a shapeshifting bear isn’t all that fun. Sure, don’t get me wrong the sex is incrediballz, but I still haven’t been taken on a single proper date. What’s the point of going steady with a billionaire if we can’t even leave the mansion long enough to go out for a night on the town? I never asked to be the savior of humanity, and the fact that I’m the only witch strong enough to keep all the vampires trapped where they belong is an honor I’d gladly pass on to someone else.

I come from a family of witches, but when I was younger I always thought they were crazy… so much so that I changed my last name from McCalaster to Banks so that no one would know who I was. Now, I’m about to have to swallow my words right along side with my pride, because not only am I expected to spend all my time in the mansion, but they expect me to actually train to become a better witch. I feel like a total freak, and I want to stomp my feet and yell like a five year old “I don’t want to do this!”, but it’s not looking like I’ll have much of a choice.

Steel says that the wards aren’t holding like they used to. More and more vampires are slipping through the cracks, like the one that tried to kill me in the woods! He fears there will come a point where even the nightly patrols of his shifter order won’t be enough to keep the bloodsuckers imprisoned where they belong. The stakes are high, but I never asked for any of this. If you look up HERO in the dictionary I guarantee you won’t find my picture there, and I’m just smart enough to be terrified of my ineptitudes being responsible for the end of the human race. Do I really have it in me to be all Merliny… and what’s it mean for the world if I don’t?

My heart goes out to anyone who has ever experienced, or been close to a victim of rape. As such, I wanted to give advance warning that there is a rape scene in this story, and that it might understandably be too much for some to handle. I’d advise against reading this if the subject matter is to difficult to stomach.

Why are character names so difficult. I get sooooooo indecisive. Seriously it’s like naming children over here!

I have had so much fun getting a chance to write in Eliza Gayle’s world. The Southern Shifter series is filled with nonstop action and enough sizzling romance to make you switch on the AC! She’s created some seriously sexy alpha male shapeshifters like Lucas and Kane who may be gritty and violent, but deep down they are fiercely  loyal and will do anything to protect the women they love! I’ve taken my story far away from the Appalachian Mountains to the suburbs of all places, so bear with me, and I hope you enjoy all of the new characters I’ve cooked up!

Review Of Ruby Dixon’s “Fire In His Blood”

I had never read anything by Ruby Dixon before her new dragon series caught my eye…

So I read it… or perhaps devoured might be a better word. And then I had to spend the last few months binge reading everything else in her back logs! OMG! This book is hot. Is it weird that I want to reach out across cyber space and give Ruby a hug for combining two of my favorite things.??? SHIFTERS & the APOCALYPSE together? Yes please!  This book has all the nitty gritty excitement that keeps me watching shows like “The Walking Dead,” but all of the character building romance that fantasy TV generally doesn’t have time to focus on in the primary plot line.

If you can’t tell already this baby is getting a full 5 star rating from me…

As with all post apocalyptic stories, the tone starts off a might dark for our poor heroine, Claudia. Right off the bat you can’t help but fall in love with Claudia, because her life may suck but she happens to be an A+ fantastic human being who would sacrifice just about anything to take care of her sister and her BFF. They’re half starving, and sorely in need of a good laundry day, but somehow they’re still managing… mainly because Claudia sneaks out past the city’s walls into the forbidden zone and scavenges anything that isn’t nailed down. Too bad scavenging is kind of illegal, and the only other option available to women wanting to survive is the world’s oldest profession. YIKES! Can you say “No thank you nasty soldier dudes”?

One thing leads to another, and before you know it Claudia will wind up in the classic King Kong sacrifice pose… minus the virginal white robes. I’m totally anti spoilers so I won’t say anything about what happens when the freaking huge killer dragon shows up. Hopefully I’ve whet your appetite enough to give it a try. If you’re a member of Kindle Unlimited all of Ruby Dixon’s books are awesomely included in the borrow plan, or you can go all in and buy it if you want.
