Nancy is a lover of the outdoors, animals and books. Her perfect day starts at four AM with a cup of coffee and a good book. By five she would be plunking away at a new novel.

A truck driver, Nancy spent many miles on the road writing books in her head. Trucking didn't allow much time for actually writing them down, however, so she didn't really start to write until she retired.

The Margret Malone series was inspired by time spent at Yosemite National Park as a volunteer. Margret is the kind of character that is in the book so the story can happen. She really isn't what the book is about, she is there to tie the story together.

"One of my favorite characters so far is Blaize, an African-American woman who is an exceptional woman, but doesn't q

When you write it may not be polished and perfect-- that's what editors and rewrites are for. It would be a rare author who writes something and is satisfied with it the first time.

When I start a project I just let it bounce around in my head for a few days, then I write down the main ideas. When I start writing, it's fast and furious with no attention paid to spelling, grammar, or even if the loose ends match up. That's the rough draft. Nobody but me ever sees it.

But don't stop at the end of your first draft! This is when the real writing starts. Let it sit for a few days (not a month!) then re-read it, and re-write it. Wash, rinse, repeat. Chances are your story won't leave you alone during the 'rest' time between re-writes. That's where new ideas and solutions to the plot holes happen.

Writing is a slow process of frantic scribbling and deep thinking. Once you start, just get out of your own way and allow it to happen. Shut off your inner editor that says you can't do it!(less)

For the Love of Horses *****

Another great read from Diana Vincent. The story continues with many unseen twists and turns. This book will have you on the edge of your seat while Sierra and River plot to Screen Shot 2018-03-22 at 5.36.05 AMrescue a horse from certain disaster. Ms. Vincent has done an excellent job of bringing the reader emotionally into the story while keeping descriptions of training and barn life accurate. Read the whole series.

This book is well written, with a story that most can relate to. I think the author could have ended the story a few chapters before he did. The reader can fill in the happy ending. The last chapter ( before the epilogue

Simple and profound

The answer is no is short and simple, but also wise and entertaining. All of it is uncommon common sense. Backman has a style that will have you giggling as you try to untangle his simple logic.
