After taking two degrees in English (with some history) I have spent my career engaging with sixth formers and students in three continents and six schools. In 2016 Sacristy Press published my book, 'The Evil That Men Do' and this year I have articles on Lawrence of Arabia and John Buchan coming out. I am also writing about American history. As well as writing and reading I enjoy climbing and exploration.
As a young man I hitch-hiked the best part of 10,000 miles round Africa and the Near East. I have slept the night in the most outlandish places: police cells, public toilets, ditches, burnt-out taxis, police stations and doss-houses and floors everywhere. I guess it wouldn't be safe now.
