The Author is in his mid-fifties and married to the best wife (as he sees it). He grew up in Switzerland and set foot on some 40 countries. He lived in a few of them for shorter or longer periods. Professionally, he mostly worked in the financial industry and tourism, enjoying a few great career happenings up to Senior Management Level. Yet, he has also experienced rough times without money, homeless, in a freezing winter at -30° and below, in a far away country.
He looked in the hurt eyes of eight-year-old child soldiers in closed war areas, experienced first-hand the impacts of a tsunami strike a day after it took place. He was in a city that got flooded, had rough encounters on three continents. He performed street work for a few years. The Author is in his mid-fifties and married to the best wife (as he sees it). Being out with broken and hurt people, seeing many of them die unnaturally, even close friends. He did some youth education on Sunday's, was "asked" at times to jump in as a babysitter. From nappy changes to Police Officers returning a child, caught doing something wrong, live held a mixed palette of surprises. He was on airplanes where engines caught fire, landing with only one engine left. Plane doors needed to be secured during a flight with passengers’ washing lines, had pilots suffering from food poisoning, was on airports with bomb threats, rushed out by military with machine guns, or snowed in, stuck for a few days, barefoot in beach slippers and short pants. He is pretty direct and straightforward. In that respect are people who hate, and the odd few who like him. His wife belongs to the exceptional few, who love to have him around always. He took care of his late father in the years before his death and was allowed to be at his bedside when he passed away. He is still taking care of his mother, who is slowly going towards 90, together with his siblings.
