The real person behind Randy Smith (a pen name) is an LA-based writer/attorney born in Downtown Los Angeles in 1977. Growing up as a first generation, Arab American in North Orange County during the 1980s and 1990s had a profound impact on Randy. An avid punk fan, Randy played in several punk bands in the early 90s. In college, Randy specialized in Middle Eastern international relations and history. After a year spent as a substitute teacher in several school districts, Randy moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Georgetown University for law school.
