Happy October 24th! On this day in War in October, Walter makes hist most important decision. Here's the prelude to the 24th and final chapter of my first novel, War in October:

As October draws to a close in Northeast Indiana, the leaves take their final breaths, colors growing brighter until the early winter winds claim their lives. Spiders weave webs on fallen dead maples near building corners and porch stairs to stay warm. As autumn nights turn cold and clear, and the frost regularly visits the morning grass, spider webs become thicker, more intricate, and the stacks of crumbly leaves grow. But winter kills webs and leaves and weaves, no matter how pretty, and soon the spiders are forced to abandon their plot and move indoors, seeking the warm refuge of a sure death.

The War in October Summer Tour drew its last breath in Angola Indiana at Cahoots Coffee Cafe. Nationally renowned rapper T-Zank and I blended our two latest projects (War in October; Spirit Scientist) to present an exciting night of compelling readings, conscious music, and self-discovery. World class cellist Katie Burns created some awesome spoken word beats for me to rap over. Friends, family, and fans showed their support, and T-Zank and I re-established ourselves as an artistic duo.

The War in October Summer Tour was a success. I love and appreciate any one that had anything to do with
it - including event organizers, bookstore owners, Cahoots Staff, my family, friends, and all of my readers.

The wheels are turning, they never stop...I've lived an infinity of lives since a beginning of time that never begun, that will never end, and here - walking home on the crack-toothed sidewalks of small-town Indiana, empty Bud Light can faded and tangled in green summer weeds, diesel trucks driven by gruff men heading home for meat and potatoes and television while I stare at my dirty feet scrape pebbles and cement and breathe the exhaust - I grow tired.

This summer, I will be embarking on a delusional search for freedom of my own: The War in October Summer Book tour. I'll kick things off in downtown Chicago on June 11th from 10am-2pm at the Printer's Row Lit Fest, one of the largest outdoor literature festivals in America. The following Thursday, June 16th, I will be performing my first public reading at the Carnegie Public Library in Angola, Indiana at 6:30pm. Two days later, on Saturday, June 18th from 10am-5pm, I will be at the Ann Arbor Book Festival in downtown Ann Arbor Michigan. I will then move throughout Indianapolis promoting my book, including an Open Mic Night hosted by AIM @ 4155 Blvd Pl Indianapolis, IN an author signing hosted by Half Price Books on Friday, June 24th from 6:30-8pm, and an event hosted by Porter Books and Bread on June 26th from 2-4pm. Late June and early July will see me humming around the south selling my books to stores and random readers with probable stops in Appalachia, Asheville, and Sanford Florida. I will return back to Indiana for an event with Indy Reads Books on July 10th and the Angola Arts Fest in downtown Angola on July 16th. Sunday, July 17th will mark the day of my author open house in Angola, IN (email nicholasugs@gmail.com or call 260-316-0614 for details). I will close the tour with a joint hip hop show/book release featuring the amazing T-Zank on July 22nd at Cahoots Coffee Cafe in Angola, Indiana. I hope to see you at one or all of these events!
