Hi! My name is Matt (M.J.K, Kozy ... call me what you want "just don't call me late for dinner", and "don't name me to blame me" lol ... stupid jokes become me ... alas...).

Just a scared man, trying to keep the brave little boy alive inside as he grows up [...or tries to grow up anyway], who: listens to too many audibooks, podcasts, and too much public radio ... and likes really bad, sappy, overly romantic music that is not good for his health [...like gummi bears, I just can't resist!]

Some people say I play too much, but maybe you don't play enough (...wink wink...or maybe I do play too much ... I donno - you decide ... "maturity is knowing when to be the right ages at the right times" a wiser person [...many wiser persons] than I have sai

Or in the words of Geoffrey Rush's character in Shakespeare in Love, "I don't know, it's a mystery." But I guess if I had to try and put words to why I write (words being an imperfect form of communication in their own right) it's kind of like God throws a bunch of ingredients into the jambalaya of my life (books, experiences, joys, heartaches, people, experiences ... just like he does with everyone's "jambalaya" of life I imagine) and once all the ingredients are in there, he just boils out of me whatever comes out (...for better and sometimes worse) and that's my writing...and I am hungry now...and sorry if I made you hungry too (jambalaya is good though!).(less)

But I am especially looking forward to reading the book GIRL UP by Laura Bates - which I hope to get around to soon.

Hope everyone else has a good summer planned as well!

The Next Step

Hello Good Reads Community:

Sorry I have not been as active on the site as when I first signed up; life has been keeping me busy - as it does for us all in one way or another (...sometimes many 'anothers'...).

I am happy to report that I got my acceptance letter for graduate school today!

I am very excited to (hopefully) be pursuing a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion Univ Read more of this blog post »

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).”
Mark Twain

André Maurois
“In literature as in love, we are astonished at what is chosen by others.”
André Maurois

J.K. Rowling
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Marilyn Monroe
“I don't mind living in a man's world, as long as I can be a woman in it.”

C.S. Lewis
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
