The Legacy Letters - Official Press Release
“Deeply immersive . . . authentic . . . emotionally potent.” – Kirkus Reviews
The Legacy Letters
his wife, his children, his final gift
A Timeless and Universal Love Story about Life
Rediscovered private letters from a dying father to his children—and his wife—uncover a passionate and powerful guidebook to life.
Summary— The Legacy Letters reveals to us the stories, memories, and music of a dying father, which ultimately becomes the practical, moral, and spiritual gift and guidebook for his children he’d never live to see, and for his wife, his redemptive story of love.
Seattle, WA—August 8, 2013—Carew Papritz, Best-selling Author Combining the best elements of such inspirational books as Tuesdays with Morrie, The Last Lecture, and Chicken Soup for the Soul, Carew Papritz has created an intense and thought- provoking book, filled with life instructions that are beautiful, revealing, and as Kirkus Reviews writes, “Deeply immersive . . . authentic . . . emotionally potent.” “A nightstand essential.”
Who Reads This “Everybody Book?” Romantic and pragmatic, old-fashioned and new-fashioned, life- questioning and life-altering, The Legacy Letters is an “everybody book.” It appeals to new parents and parents-to-be for its detailed life instructions. Parents are reading it to and with their children. Teenagers are rediscovering timeless values and ideas still relevant for a new time. Grandparents read it for the nostalgia of an earlier time and to read to their grandchildren. For people hungry to find meaning in their lives, The Legacy Letters offers its audience a way to think about, talk about, and even change their lives—to create their own “Legacy Life.”
Discovering the Songs of The Legacy Letters—Carew also adds an unique element, songs written specifically for the book. The Legacy Letters—The Songs is the gift of music, along with the letters, that the author left to both his children and his wife. The full album will be available this fall.
A Writer’s Life Made for The Legacy Letters— Carew Papritz was born in Yosemite National Park, and has lived in England, Norway, and across the US. He has worked as a cowboy and wrangler, ski patrol, freelance journalist, tour bus driver, bartender, and in feature films in Hollywood. He began writing The Legacy Letters on the back of his pickup while working on a ranch. Eventually, he “wrangled” “the woman who would become his wife; they were married on horseback while a bagpiper played. They now have a son and live in Washington state and the Southwest.

Amazon Review of the Legacy Letters from Barry Friedman
Wonderful Review of The Legacy Letters from Barry Friedman at Amazon.com. Thank you, Barry!!
"Just home from a 5-day backpacking trip in The Enchantments (3 hours east of Seattle). I put this book in my backpack because of it's size and remarkable jacket synopsis. I mean, who could walk away from a come-on like that?
I started the book on the plane to Seattle and by the time we landed, I was 40 pages in and HOOKED. I mean, hooked bad - the last guy off the plane when my seat was only 10 rows back from the door.
Carew Papritz has created the book that every father should write for their kids, and never will. The prose is so well-crafted that I found myself 'whisper reading' the entire book to myself - I haven't done that in 43-years, since I was 8!
The opening paragraph or two from each letter is worthy of a 2nd reading. Papritz sets the scene, mood, environment, or context so beautifully that by the time the meat of the letter started, I was completely transported. The lessons in each letter are never preachy, and as a father of an 11-year old I found myself marking certain passages for sharing with my son.
The rest of our group went on a day hike during the third day. I found myself a big flat rock, took out my sleeping pad, set up a pillow and didn't move. I digested The Legacy Letters into my soul and stood up 5 hours later a better man, husband, and father.
"I'm thankful that this book came across my radar. I want to share it with the world. I will give away a dozen copies this Christmas."
Thank you, Papa, for doing the work it must have taken to produce those letters. I imagine there were profound boxing matches with the shadows of fatherhood, the undercurrents of relationship, and the very personal and delicate balance of the ego."

"The Everything and Nothing of Money"
To remember you so vividly, dancing there, with sweet champagne pulsing through your veins . . .to know what it's like to feel another's presence pulsing through mine.
And each time, looking forward to popping that enchanted cork with you and really disappearing from the world as we knew it—
wondering if we would ever return.
(From The Legacy Letters, by Carew Papritz-

The Legacy Letters is a Guidebook to Life and a Valuable Resource for Parents and Grandparents
The Legacy Letters is a guidebook to life and a valuable resource for parents and grandparents.
The Legacy Letters is a timeless and universal guidebook to life. It reveals to us the stories, memories, and music of a dying father which ultimately becomes the practical, moral, and spiritual gift and guidebook for his children he’d never live to see, and for his wife, his redemptive story of love.
The Legacy Letters, offers valuable insight for parents and grandparents to share with their children.
“Remember, Little Ones, everything is not important all the time. Only living is important all the time. Not things. Not money. Not more things and more endless money. Spend well the quality of your time. And yes, be greedy with your hours. If only to then give those hours away as the most precious gifts you have to offer to yourself, your family, and your friends. And yes, to my Little Ones.” –From The Legacy Letters–“The Everything and Nothing of Money.”
Many parents and grandparents are reading The Legacy Letters to their children as a bedtime story!
