Syed Hasanuddin Ahmed holds a PhD. degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. After getting his Master's degree, he joined the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS). In course of his long career in the IAS, he served in various prominent positions with distinction such as Director, Religious Affairs Department in the erstwhile state of Hyderabad, Agent to and Deputy Secretary, Government of India, in-charge of minority affairs and awqaf.
