Thorns ~ A Suspense Thriller

It's been a while but here is my latest novel that readers of The Patmos Enigma and The Lazarus Succession will enjoy.

A GLOBAL FAMINE.
AN ANCIENT SECRET.
POLITICAL INTRIGUE IN THE VATICAN.

From the multi-award-winning author of The Lazarus Succession and The Patmos Enigma Ken Fry, comes a new novel of survival, power, and the fight for humanity's future.

Crops are failing, and agriculture is collapsing worldwide.
Global famine is imminent, with wheat disasters devastating producers.

Every nation is affected—except for one small island in Italy: Sicily.
No one knows why.

Dr. Norton Fletcher and Dr. Florence Cattersby, renowned soil scientists, are sent to uncover the mystery. What they find is an astonishing, two-thousand-year-old secret—one that has been carefully preserved by a small, dwindling group of people.

This secret is in the hands of one man, linked to its miraculous past. He holds the fate of both Sicily and the world. The scientists struggle to believe it can be real.

Meanwhile, the island’s religious leader learns of the secret. Realizing its potential, he sees it as his path to the papacy and sets in motion a plot to steal it.

With help from a shadowy far-right nationalist group, led by a fanatical and ruthless leader, a brutal campaign of terror begins.

As chaos unfolds, the fight for control of this ancient secret becomes a battle that will determine the destiny of a starving world.

How will it end?

As with all my novels, what is most enjoyable to me is the research involved in writing this. I hope I was able to capture the mystery of this most important religious artifact. The pervading themes of this book though are centered on Vatican political intrigue and the global famine threatening humanity.

The Writing of The Blood Red Robe and a Cover Reveal

Writing The Blood Red Robe felt like a natural progression. It was almost instinctual, having written stories about the enigmatic Mary Magdalene before. I've always been drawn to the allure of her stories, and this time, merging her essence into a medieval backdrop seemed like the perfect fit.
The story unfolds against the ancient streets of Jerusalem, with the Knights Templar at its core. Mary Magdalene's ethereal voice enters the minds of these characters, setting them on a quest to find her lost robe. Interestingly, they're also compelled to seek out a mysterious woman in a distant land.
My previous trilogy concerning Lady Aveline of Froulingham had left her future undecided. The Blood Red Robe determines her path. Overwhelmed by tragic events, she's become a recluse, on the brink of self-destruction. However, the whispers of Mary Magdalene within her mind ignite a spark of hope as she eagerly anticipates the arrival of two strangers, unaware of the transformation they'll bring.
What would happen when they eventually meet?Read more »

The Writing of THE MAGDALENE MISSION: An Archaeological Thriller

As a writer, I have an extraordinary curiosity about many things, explained or unexplained. It is the latter that often leads to the possibility of an interesting story. Such an opportunity appeared to present itself when I looked at the various theories and facts that surrounded the life and mystery of the Magdalene, as she was known.

It is generally accepted that she was a close companion of Jesus or Yeshua as he was then named. It appeared that she acted as an explanatory mouthpiece of his words to an often-bewildered collection of apostles.

What Christ spoke, she wrote down, and the original scripts can be seen in the museum in Berlin to this day.

Gospel of Mary

The most complete text of the Gospel of Mary is contained in the Berlin Codex, but even so, it is missing six manuscript pages at the beginning of the document and four manuscript pages in the middle.

The enigmatic factor is that ten pages are missing...

That in itself presented me with a range of possibilities for producing a story in an attempt to locate them. The most prominent questions were … Why? When? Who? What was in them to warrant their removal? Each of these questions had a potential for varied theories.

It was these that I acted on and invented the story, THE MAGDALENE MISSION, as you will read it.

Like many good stories, it is not all fiction. My favourite term ‘faction’ came very much into play. The story is full of facts based on an extensive range of research that involves actual events, worldwide locations, and of course the Roman Catholic Church. To complete the mix, there are the ‘good guys’ and the ‘bad guys.’ Each has their own agenda and the reasons for that.

Writing stories like these, e.g. Biblical mysteries, gives me plenty of time to notice my own feelings and reactions as the narrative progresses.

There is with me an opening up sensation that I have to balance with mystical fiction, facts and reality. My own beliefs, like so many things in this world are what they are, often just beliefs, with no real way of truly knowing. I’m not here to bang my drum but to present an entertaining story that you will enjoy and maybe give you cause to wonder.

Drunks: An Alcoholic Drama Wins the Literary Titan Gold Book Award

Thank you to Literary Titan for recognizing the message of this book. I have delayed the publishing of Drunks since it does not fit the genre of my other books, but it has a special place in my heart and I am happy that it is out there to maybe help people with a drinking problem, or know someone with a drinking problem.

A Review from Literary Titan

Drunks by Ken Fry is a tale that’s deeply personal and dramatic and is an ultimately inspirational story that is told with an infusion of romance. This story is narrated by Alan Markham, the main character, and his journey and experiences with alcoholism, marriage, and learning to conquer and control addiction. Alan and his wife, Chrissy, appear to have the life everyone wants – Alan has a successful career, and Chrissy lives a free, luxurious, and enjoyable life. Still, just below the surface, there’s trouble in their marriage.Read more »

Pre-order of The Keeper's Cup and a Cover Reveal

The story of Mary Magdalene has always fascinated me, and I indulged in that fascination in my new book, THE KEEPER'S CUP.

Intrigue in the Vatican and hidden historical mysteries.Stories not included in the New Testament.Pieces of our history that were passed on through the ages, but never accepted by those who decide what the truth is.
This novel is not meant to offend anyone's faith, but to explore other possible stories not included in mainstream biblical history. Stories that were only spoken of in whispers in the past, but are now discussed more openly.
It is my hope that you read The Keeper's Cup  with an open mind.
Now, let me present...the Cover of The Keeper's CupRead more »
