Swoon Readers

Over this winter break, I have finally had time to not only catch up on sleep, but to read out of pleasure!

Yay!

In addition to having received a Barnes and Noble gift card for my 23rd birthday and buying MANY books to kickstart my goal of reading 100 books in 2019, I have also FINALLY finished a manuscript I have been working on for 4 years. Yes, FOUR years. I have actually had it beta read a couple months ago, and because of school and work, it had taken me those several months to go through the revisions and make adjustments. I am in the midst of going through another round of revisions before I can hopefully start preparing for submitting it for publication.

Speaking of publication, while I was researching publishing houses, I stumbled upon Swoon Readers. Focusing on young adult novels, Swoon reads allows writers to submit manuscripts, and then they allow readers to read through those manuscripts and leave comments and rate them. Through this system, Swoon Reads chooses which works to publish. I've been intrigued by this and have considered submitting my own manuscript when it is ready. Within minutes of creating my own account, I came across so many works that seemed interesting to check out!

My first one is The Water Weaver by Holly Hamilton. I have read roughly 50% of her manuscript so far, and I highly recommend checking it out if you are interested in reading fantasy, romance, and adventure. Below is the description:

Cursed by the power to shape the seas, Inessa Talanova never expected to become Queen - not after her mother withered away beneath her fingertips. Although shunned by her father for a decade, his dying wish is for his only child to succeed him. But sovereignty proves the least of Inna's concerns when her magic spirals out of control and she kills the man she was to marry.

Branded a witch, Inna longs to remove her curse and return as Queen. But the only way to escape her kingdom is to sail under Captain Glyn, a ruthless pirate more interested in her magic than any treasure. Beneath his charm lies a dark, revenge-fuelled plot - one which may very well cost her life.

Despite everything opposing her, Inna is determined to make her father proud and become the Queen he wished for her to be. Even if that means betraying Captain Emrys Glyn.

Anyhow, if you are interested in publishing a work of yours, or if you are interested in reading unpublished work to help support another writer's dream of being published, I highly recommend visiting Swoon Reads!
